MHR Poll of the Week: The Broncos Off-Season Begins

We are going to find out if Fox, Elway and Xanders agree with the members of MHR or not in just a few weeks. (AP Photo/Eric Bakke, Pool)

Well I'm glad to say MHR Poll of the Week is back, and hopefully we can continue to do our best to keep the pulse on Bronco Country. Normally in this section we would review the previous week's poll, but since it's been a while, so we'll just take a look down memory lane and see how Mile High Report did in a few of it's predictions. Now I didn't include all the final data, just a few that stuck out in retrospect.

MHR Selects - Broncos 2011 Comeback Player Of the Year

The 2011 season has wrapped up for the Denver Broncos and we will soon be gearing up for the events leading up to the NFL Scouting Combine set for the end of February and eventually the 2012 NFL Draft near the end of April. Still, we haven't had complete closure here on Mile High Report. In the coming weeks, we will take a look at each position in review and looking forward. Meanwhile, I am proposing a series of Bronco player awards as voted upon by the members here at MHR. We can begin with the Broncos 2011 Comeback Player Of The Year.

Instant Reaction: Has Tim Tebow Earned 2012?

SAN DIEGO, CA - NOVEMBER 27: Tim Tebow #15 and Brian Dawkins #20 of the Denver Broncos celebrate a 16-13 overtime win over the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium on November 27, 2011 in San Diego, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)

The Denver Broncos are 6-5 and on the cusp of the NFL Playoffs.  The defense has played out of its mind, and Von Miller could break the rookie sack record (14.5) held by Jevon Kearse.  Brian Dawkins looks 5 years younger, and the defensive line that was supposed to be a weakness is getting it done when it matters most.

Oh yea, and Tim Tebow is now 5-1 as the starting quarterback for the Broncos this season.  He gets all the pub - much like every quarterback in the NFL.  Too much credit and too much blame.  We are halfway through the 11-game audition for Tebow that started back after the Broncos fell to 1-4.  At that time, we all felt the next 11 games would be a good indicator of what the Broncos should do in the 2012 NFL Draft.  It was my assertion that Tebow would need to play the Broncos out of a Top-5 pick in order to be given a shot after the season.

Boy, has he done that.  So, as a mid-term, I ask you, Broncos Country, if the season ended today, has Tim Tebow shown you enough to be given the off-season to prepare 100% as the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos?  In order to avoid a comment battle, I am closing the comments on the poll.  Let the results stand on their own.

Poll: Can Tim Tebow Lead The Broncos To The Playoffs In 2011?

Photo

Skip Bayless said that Tim Tebow can lead the Broncos to the playoffs, this season. As I watched ESPN's First Take, I figured that Skip would be on board with Tebow - he always is - but I didn't quite expect him to take it that far.

Now, far be it from me to say that Tim Tebow "can't" or the Denver Broncos "can't". . But in the words of Jim Mora, "PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS? WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS?"

The Broncos are currently 1 game out of first place in the AFC West. That's partially due to the fact that Tim Tebow is 2-1 as a starter and partially because the rest of the division is, for lack of a better word, bad. But do we really think that the Denver Broncos are playoff worthy? Just last week, there were a vast majority of people wondering if Tebow could play the position, at all.  Even on Sunday morning, people on twitter were discussing possible scenarios that would put Brady Quinn into the mix.

It's Monday and everything is different. According to Mr. Bayless, we have playoff aspirations. Personally, I think that 6 wins would be a successful record for this team. I'm all about optimism and aspirations, but I'm more interested in facts and reality, as well. I don't believe that we'll make the playoffs in 2011, but I'd be happy to eat crow. So, what do you think, Broncos fans?

Can they? Sure, they "can"... but "will they"? Will the Denver Broncos make the playoffs? Explain your answer in the comment section.
