Analyzing Prospects--An Extension of MHR University
We all recognize football when we see it. And through MHR University, many of us have learned how to see it better. It has become easier to see the trees within the forest, so to speak, and as the game gets larger for us, the ability to focus on the smaller parts of it becomes a reward in itself. So far this reward has come in the form of a deeper understanding and appreciation of the tactics and strategies that make up the game. These ideas get layered over one another to create a rich viewing experience for the fan, but to truly dig in and enjoy, there is yet another layer of enjoyment that can be folded in.

MHR Scouting Services is joining temporarily with MHR University to provide a series of tools for the fan, to help in looking at and analyzing the basic skills of the players themselves, on a level just short of the requirements of strategy. When it isn't enough to know that a player is "fast" or "big" turn to Analyzing Prospects, an Extension of MHR University.
In our introductory lesson, we'll take a look at some traits that cover every prospect and every position. These basic criteria should define the baseline analysis of a player, and can often be the most significant measure of a younger player, whose positional skills may still be raw. Any prospect who grades out highly in the following areas is bound to be a great find.

Scouting The Broncos - Can the 2009 Draft Class Fix Our DT woes?

First, let's start with a few reasonable assumptions.
- It's far to early to know who will get drafted when in the 2009 class.
- We can never know for sure who Denver will draft.
- Our current DTs may step up at some point this season.
All that being said, I would like for us to explore what is out there. The difference between Denver being average and terrific is only one or two players away in my opinion. The DT is the foundation of the defense, protecting LBs so they can do the LBs' job, and occupying the center so the DEs can pass rush.
Let's see what the possibilities are. Read on....

MHR Scouting Services -- Torrents

Torrents
Every scout should familiarize themselves with the technology of Torrents. They at once allow you to be in two places at once, reverse time and in the process, allow you to see the future.
Sound too good to be true? It should. There is no doubt that Torrents deliver. But it is equally true that dealing with Torrents can be difficult, and even impossible, unless a code of conduct is followed.
Read on to learn how to make it a painless process...

MHR Scouting Services- Staff
Here it is the MHR Scouting Services Staff List. The People listed below are the ones who will providing you with knowledge about the up and coming college football prospects that are standouts for your Denver Broncos. They will also report on the occasional GREAT player but the majority of the reports will be about those players our Scouting Staff feel would do well donning the Orange and Blue come September 2009. The link in the left hand navigation bar titled MHR Scouting Services will serve as a link to the reports by MHR Scouting. Now to introduce our Senior Staff at MHR Scouting:
THE SPORTS GURU "TSG"- The founder of the MHR, Guru has given our scouting staff the opportunity to help you the average reader learn a little about what goes on in the scouting world as well as a little about what it takes for a player to wear the coveted Orange and Blue. He is the Man behind all the men and women who supply our scouting information. Our greatest thanks to the GURU who without we would not have our beloved MHR.
STYG50- Styg has agreed to help all those who are new to the scouting world by giving them a inside look at what sits on a scouts coffee room table. He will be the one providing the articles on what it takes to scout. After reading the analysis of players Styg provided during this reloading season, there was no doubt in MHRSS (not to be confused with HRMS) that to not have this man on board would be a travesty.
HOOSIERTEACHER "HT"- The heart and soul of MHR University has agreed to help out in the area of "Becoming a Denver Bronco" and what it entails. Having worked with the great HT at the MHR University (I taught Saturday School to raider fans and equipped the MHR University Students with their Extra Credit Options), I can say that there are very few people who provide the in depth knowledge he has and to have him on the MHR Scouting Services payroll is indeed fortunate for us.
Now that you know the Top Staff here at MHR Scouting go below the fold to read our ACE Beat Reporters who will be giving you the analysis first hand!

MHR Scouting Services -- Getting Set Up

Well, it looks like you guys are ready to go. You've got an area set up that is suitable to your scouting work, and you have lined out many of the supplies that you will need to have on hand. Don't worry if you haven't thought of everything... because you haven't, but you are going to have plenty of time to get the process fleshed out, and what you do have in place is bound to save time and make the whole process a lot more enjoyable. And if the rest of the membership are like me, they can't wait to see the kind of work you are going to do.
So at this point I would like to take a look at some very basic guidelines for setting up your scouting 'system.' There is no right way, only better ways and worse ways, and if at any time you see a method that can be improved on, feel free to outline it in the comments.
If you're ready, I'll meet you below the fold, and I hope you have been playing around with your database software, because that is the first task we are going to tackle.

MHR Scouting Services -- Getting Organized
Something with great potential is coming together here at MHR, and I am very excited to be able to introduce a few tidbits of information over the coming weeks to help out.
I am talking, of course, of MHR Scouting Services, founded by Jon Tollerud, and the information I would like to share will be a little of what I have learned from watching college players in order to assess their NFL capabilities. A lot of it will be very basic, and old hat to many of you, but I am hoping it will still be useful to members who are new to the idea of scouting, and perhaps those of you who already have a good eye for assessing the talented players will be able to pull an interesting point or two from the articles.
Getting Started Means Getting Organized
These first few posts won't really be about scouting per se, but about the organization that will make you a better scout. I maintain a list of almost 1000 players (at any given time), and the key to getting any use out of that list is Organization. I'll talk a little bit about setting up a database, how to make the best use of your time, and the things that you should have on hand, but first I would like to talk a little about the overall idea of Organization. Click below to follow along....
