Recap: Middle Tennessee vs. Maryland

Sports Network | September 06, 2008

Murfreesboro, TN (Sports Network) - Joe Craddock threw for 256 yards and a pair of touchdowns in leading the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee to a 24-14 win over the Maryland Terrapins in non-conference play at Floyd Stadium. Craddock converted 28-of-40 passing for the Blue Raiders (1-1) in their first- ever win versus Maryland (1-1). The Terps were paced by running back Da'Rel Scott who carried the ball 11 times and gained a game-high 123 yards and scored once in the setback. Quarterback Chris Turner hit on 13-of-28 for 207 yards and a score for the visitors, but he was also sacked three times and had just as many passes picked off as well. Less than six minutes into the first quarter Craddock put Middle Tennessee on the scoreboard with a five-yard touchdown pass to freshman wideout Sancho McDonald. However, under than a minute later the Terps responded when Scott raced 63 yards for the score, knotting the game at 7-7 heading into the second frame. The only scoring in the second period came courtesy of kicker Alan Gendreau who booted a 31-yard field goal for the Blue Raiders, providing the home team with a 10-7 edge at the break. In the third Middle Tennessee pulled away, first with a one-yard TD run by Phillip Tanner and then a 53-yard touchdown pass from Craddock to Malcolm Beyah. In between those two scores Maryland tallied a touchdown as well, thanks to an 80-yard pass from Turner to Darrius Heyward-Bey, leaving the Blue Raiders with the 24-14 win. Middle Tennessee controlled the ball for nearly 40 minutes on the evening, resulting in 82 offensive plays and 402 yards overall. Game Notes Game Notes
