Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

Best draft pick, 1995-2005

Looking over the drafts from those years, you can see that there were some nice hits and quite a few misses. But that's true for most teams.

The seven guys I listed in the poll are the ones that really stand out, but if you think I missed someone, vote "other."

The Candidates

Terrell Davis: What really needs to be said? When he arrived in Denver the Broncos enjoyed their best seasons ever, which culminated in two Super Bowl victories.

John Mobley: A small college guy who provided stellar play at linebacker.

Trevor Pryce: At times he was a force to be reckoned with, but on the very next play he could look uninterested. Also had problems with the law.

Al Wilson: If someone asked me the most under-rated MLB in the NFL today, I think I would answer with Wilson. He quietly goes about his business with superior results and provides leadership for the defense. Might he join Elway in Canton years from now?

Ian Gold: He probably doesn't belong on this list, but he's a Wolverine and they are my second favorite college football team.

Mike Anderson: Shanahan continued his great run at RBs in the later rounds with Anderson here, who won ROY in 2000. He got lost in the shuffle as RBs like Portis and Bell came later on before he left for the East Coast.

D.J. Williams: Probably too early to make a judgement on but he's the best first round pick since Wilson in 1999.

They Sure Can
If you combine Middlebrooks with O'Neal they have to be 2 of the worst yet....

For as bad as those two guys were, D. Williams and Foxworth have been just as good....

I picked Al Wilson
He just beats out TD in my book because of his longevity. You could argue TD's success was partially due to the OLine he was running through.

Clinton Portis was another pretty good pick. Second round pick that did pretty well. Ended up trading him for a shutdown corner like Champ Bailey.

I'd have to go with TD
For many reasons including the Super Bowls, the fact that it was the 6th round, the excitement of the 2000 yard season, the mile high salute, the dazzling smile.  We've had some successful running backs since then, but none have knocked my socks off like Terrell.

Honestly
I have to be honest....I love Al, and nearly picked him, but I had to go with T.D. based on the sole value of the pick.  Most 6th round choices don't make it on the team, ever.

That said, and with the recent history of 1st Rnd picks, Al Wilson is a pretty awesome value.

There is no going wrong with either pick....
