Broncos @ Bears - Game Day Open Thread - 4th Quarter

     @

Date: Sunday, November 25, 2007

Time: 2:15 p.m. MST

Teams: Denver Broncos (5-5, Tied for 1st in AFC West) at Chicago Bears (4-6, 3rd Place in NFC North)

Location: Soldier Field - Chicago, IL

Broncos Fourteenth Drive...cont.

--A Broncos first down greets the two teams as we start the fourth quarter...
--Winning time for the Broncos...
--Look at Stokely holding on to the football...Love to see that..
--The Broncos need to put some first downs together, eat some clock and get at least 3...
--Pass Interference, at least it should be, and Scheffler still caught it..
--Great Catch By Scheffler!!!
--Cecil Sapp, refusing to go down...
--Broncos look to be playing for 3 here, which would be a huge three to have...
--Unbelievable catch by Tony Scheffler, and the Broncos put the dagger into the Bears...TOUCHDOWN BRONCOS!!! BRONCOS 34 - Bears 20

Bears Fifteenth Drive --

--Kicking from the 45 after a classless penalty by Brian Urlacher there is no reason Hestor should get his hands on this...
--5 yard passes to your Tight End isn't going to get it done for the Bears...
--Ian Gold has found new life the second half of the season..
--Crowder with the hit, Gold with the recovery, and the Broncos can really nail down the coffin...

Broncos Fifteenth Drive --

--The Bears prove they can be taught, sniffing out the option pitch...it only worked about 10 times before that play...
--Now that is a gun....What an arm...Broncos have to punt...

Bears Sixteenth Drive --

--Now a blocked punt...Unbelievable...This is completely unacceptable....
--There had better be some answers after this game for the piss-poor special teams, particularly by Sauerbrun...
--First and Goal for the Bears, somehow, someway they are right in this game...
--Broncos need to make sure this takes as long as possible....
--What a Touchdown by Peterson, who with the help of a bunch of his friends, drug the entire Broncos defense into the end-zone..
--BRONCOS 34 - Bears 27

Broncos Sixteenth Drive --

--Perfect playcall on second down, and Marshall picks up a first down to keep the clock moving...
--Cannot stutter-step...Need to run right at the line....
--Two runs get nothing for the Broncos, and the Bears will use their second timeout....
--Big third down, horrible blocking and the Bears get the sack...
--Broncos need to punt, and that has been their worst enemy all day...

Bears Seventeenth Drive --

--Odd configuration there, set up for one reason, to break Devin Hestor...
--The Bears nearly out-smart themselves....
--Hestor in on offense now, and the Bears will do anything to get the ball in his hands...
--Another nice play by Gold, helped by the drop by Olson...
--Another drop by Olson will bring up a 4th and 10. This is the ball-game right here...
--Flag down, solid play by Bly, but a penalty to go along with it and the Bears have new life...
--Weak penalty, I have seen alot worse...
--Grossman getting into a rhythm now, not what we want to see...
--TWO MINUTE WARNING - BRONCOS 34 - Bears 27
--Bears trying to run it in, and the Broncos doing a solid job stuffing it...
--The first time all day the Bears offense has done anything....
--Great play by Paymah....here's the ball-game....
--4th and goal....
--Great catch by Berrian, and the Broncos have done everything possible to lose this game. EVERYTHING.....
--This game reminds me of the Giants game a few years ago...
--BRONCOS 34 - BEARS 34

--The Broncos have the ball, trying to make something happen before we go to Overtime...
--An offensive penalty will end regulation...

END OF REGULATION -- BRONCOS 34 - BEARS 34

He's mostly having a good day
But is Marshall even wearing cleats?  He's got to stay on his feet.

All I can say is WOW...
Scheff had a good bounce and a great catch. It pays to be lucky sometimes, and a 15 yarder on the bears helps with the Hester situation on the kickoff.

You could see that blocked punt..
comming from well before the snap. Special teams is having a rough day in general.

I hate to credit the Bears
That was indeed some real effort on the touchdown 'run' by the Bears. That's what 21 guys in a pile looks like.

Now they are right in this game. The offense needs to just drain this clock.

I can't count
how many times the Bears have dropped a pass. This is getting embarrasing. Some were tough to catch, and others were right in the receivers hands.

This play is going to stand
There is little reason to think that they won't overturn this TD catch.

If Denver Loses this game the headlines read:
Denver falls to 5-6 because Todd Saurbraun can't put angles to his kicks.
