Broncos @ Raiders - Game Day Open Thread - Second Quarter

     @

Date: Sunday, December 2, 2007

Time: 2:05 p.m. MST

Teams: Denver Broncos (5-6, 2nd in AFC West) at Oakland Raiders (3-8, 4th Place in AFC West)

Location: Some Crap Hole in Oakland, CA

Raiders Second Drive cont....

--A third and 10 upcoming for the Raiders as we open the second quarter...
--Great job by the Broncos defense this time, and the Raiders are forced to punt...

Broncos Second Drive --

--Lechler is on of the best in the game. He proves it once again with a 63 yard punt...
--Selvin Young will reportedly be back in the game at some point...
--Scheffler took a bad angle to that pass, but the coverage was good...Sapp was wide-open on that one but Cutler tried to go down field...
--The Broncos follow the Raiders in going three and out.

Raiders Third Drive --

--Solid punt by Sauerbrun, and JaMarcus Russell Will Enter the game for the Raiders...
--I wasn't the high on Russell coming out of LSU, we're about to find out if I am right...
--Russell's first pass is a completion and his era as a Raider begins...
--Penalty, looks to be a false start...Actually a motion penalty and Russell will face his first 3rd down..
--Lynch just got drilled in the back...no call, and the Raiders pick up a first down.
--The Raiders have found something now with Fargas. The excitement of seeing Russell for the first time has given the Raiders a spark...
--Broncos defense starting to come after Russell now, and Dumervil gets the tip. Big 3rd and 10 coming up...
--Another fumble will force a field goal attempt...
--58 frickin' yard attempt coming up....No Good, and the Broncos have great field position...

Broncos Third Drive --

--Nothing going on first down...
--Broncos have great field position but cannot take advantage, going three and out from mid-field...

Raiders Fourth Drive --

--Russell returns for his second drive....
--The Broncos are dropping, while the Raiders are throwing short. Denver needs to force the action, not sit and wait...
--Raiders pick up another first down on the ground...
--Typical of a rookie, for every good throw is a bad throw for Russell...
--Things are really easy for a QB when the defender falls down...This time Bly can't keep his feet, and the Raiders are inside the 35...
--Broncos get pressure on Russell and D.J. Williams does a good job keeping him from getting big yardage...
--False Start will turn a 3rd and 3 into a 3rd and 8
--Big play up-coming here...
--Raiders nearly pick it up, and with a 4th and one upcoming the Raiders will go for it...
--Not a chance....Great stop by the defense and the Broncos take over at the 26 yard line...Oh, and Nate Webster's helmet came off for the 400th game in a row...

Broncos Fourth Drive --

--The first defender rarely brings Brandon Marshall down...The Broncos need to pick up a couple first downs now...
--Fumble by Travis Henry, and the Raiders take over. What a waste of 15 million dollars...

Raiders Fifth Drive --

--The Raiders get the ball back, and Josh McCown returns to a cascade of boos...
--Raiders attacking the air now, and Jerry Porter picks up a first down...
TWO MINUTE WARNING -- Raiders 7 - BRONCOS 7
--The defense has been on the field a loooong time, especially in the second quarter...
--Raiders get closer to a first down, and a touchdown here could be a back-breaker...
--Touchdown Raiders on the pass from Josh McCown to Zach Miller...Domonique Foxworth couldn't keep up with a Tight End...Awesome...RAIDERS 14 - Broncos 7

Broncos Fifth Drive --

--The Broncos have a total of 13 yards in the second quarter...Embarrassing...
--Broncos would be wise to just let the clock run out....They try, but the Raiders call timeout...Why Not??
--Broncos decide to throw....and Javon Walker has his first reception since Week 2...
--Cutler runs for a first down, and now the Broncos will call timeout...
--Cutler has lost his rhythem, and the Broncos need to let the first half end...
--Finally it will and the Broncos will head to the locker room behind...

END OF FIRST HALF -- RAIDERS 14 - BRONCOS 7

Good
No forced first downs on the punt. Nice job by the defense (finally) to force a quick turnover.

Lechler is an
awesome punter!  I bet Fader fans are so proud to have such a significant and special punter!

Imagine!  A punter!  Gosh, those lucky faders!!

Jane's addiction

"Stop."

I wonder if it means anything?

Uh... guys...
Let's not go three and out as well.

by Silverblood on Dec 2, 2007 2:46 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Was
that a Huff good play, or a scheffler drop?

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 2:46 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Pass..
was overthrown and Scheff took a bad angle.  Solid coverage...Sapp was wideopen underneath, too...

by John Bena on Dec 2, 2007 2:48 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I really
want to see Cutler working on his checkdowns.  This picking a guy before the snap has got to stop.

Oh come on, a pair of incompletes?
Those with TV: Poor receiver selection by Cutler, good coverage by the Faiders, bad hands by the receivers, what?

by Silverblood on Dec 2, 2007 2:48 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

sounds like
a scheff drop (maybe) and a cutler overthrow

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 2:48 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

I don't like anyone who
has a first name or surname of Russell. So, here's to a rude awakening for JaMarcus.

by Russ on Dec 2, 2007 2:49 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Dominek Hixon
just lost about 8 yards on a reverse versus the Bears.  Interesting to actually see him on the field.

by MattR on Dec 2, 2007 2:51 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

stop the run!!
Lynch needs to get off that block!!

The Russel
spark may be fading.  Already.

Poor faders.

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 2:55 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Put Walter In!
Let's get the chant started for the Faders!

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 2:56 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Forced a fumble
but can't recover it. At least we pushed them to 4 and 18... and Janikowski misses the field goal! Hahaha!

by Silverblood on Dec 2, 2007 2:56 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Back
to being the faders.  Nice.

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 2:57 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Okay
Can our kick return unit finally gain something?

by Silverblood on Dec 2, 2007 2:57 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Never mind
Young goes into negative yardage to put us at 2 and 11...

kiffen
is kind of a dill-weed, don't you think?

I wonder about his brains.  I think Al Davis might have eaten them.  Zombies do that, you know.

Another completely useless drive
and we punt... Faders with the ball again...

Right.

Anynoe else having trouble with Internet radio
I just had to switch over to the Raiders broadcast because I keep getting errors when I try to listen to the Broncos.

by MattR on Dec 2, 2007 3:03 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

I pity you...
and no, I'm still on NFL gameday; no TV or radio for me. Probably better than listening to Raiders Radio (TM).

by Silverblood on Dec 2, 2007 3:04 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

as if watching Hester on TV again
this week was not punishment enough.

by MattR on Dec 2, 2007 3:06 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Somebody better make sure
Hester didn't put on Fargas' uniform.

by Silverblood on Dec 2, 2007 3:07 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I think
it was a realplayer malfunction.  It is working good on wmp for the broncos broadcast.

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 3:07 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Broncos broadcast is back
just in time for Nate Webster to make a big play.  Too bad we can't get that from him more consistently.

by MattR on Dec 2, 2007 3:09 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Anybody
can improve right?

I mean, he is a paid professional...

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 3:10 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah
It went out for me as well, and I had to listen to the faders for a bit. I just couldn't keep it up.

However, the Broncos broadcast is back up again.

I forgot to tell you guys
My roommate is from LA and is Raiders fan. He only has a big mouth about it when the Broncos play the Raiders.

Any ideas for pranks?
