Broncos @ Raiders - Game Day Open Thread - Third Quarter

     @

Date: Sunday, December 2, 2007

Time: 2:05 p.m. MST

Teams: Denver Broncos (5-6, 2nd in AFC West) at Oakland Raiders (3-8, 4th Place in AFC West)

Location: Some Crap Hole in Oakland, CA

Broncos Sixth Drive --

--Broncos get the ball first, and some how Brandon Marshall needs to ball in his hands more.
--They try, and luckily Marshall can pick up two yards...
--Another incompletion by Cutler who is really out of whack now...
--The way this team is playing simply makes me sick....period...
--The necessary INT by Cutler comes in the 3rd quarter this week and the Raiders are set up to score again...

Raiders Sixth Drive --

--The defense comes up with two solid plays, knowing they cannot give up another TD...
--Porter makes a solid catch, but the Raiders will be forced to try a field goal...It's good...
--Raiders 17 - Broncos 7

Broncos Seventh Drive --

--Turnovers by the Broncos on back-to-back possessions has lead to 10 Raider points....
--The special teams for the Broncos is once again pathetic...
--The Broncos offense is running the option, down 10, on the road, in the 3rd quarter...Sad...
--Like we have seen a few times this season, the Broncos are getting physically beaten....
--Another fumble, another turnover and the Raiders are looking to blwo this one wide open...
--Why...WHY IS TRAVIS HENRY IN THE GAME???

Raiders Seventh Drive --

--All that progress the offense was making the past few weeks?? Forget about it...
--Remember how good the Broncos DB's were supposed to be?? Forget about it...
--
RAIDERS 24 - Broncos 7

Broncos Eighth Drive --

--Nothing the Broncos can do now but try and get something accomplished, just to see of there are any men in the locker room that we want back next year...
--There's a big play, play-action fake and deep to Stokely, who makes the catch and has the Broncos inside the 15 ayrd line...
--A couple runs by Henry brings up a 3rd and 3 from the 6. This has to be 4 down territory...
--A false start....why not?
--The Raiders come after, and get to Cutler, and now the Broncos will have to kick the field goal. Just nothing good happening for the Broncos...
--Raiders 24 - Broncos 10

Raiders Eighth Drive --

--It be nice if the Broncos could come up with a turnover right now...
--More solid special teams coverage has the Raiders out to the 40 yard line...
--How did the Broncos not come up with that fumble???
--Nothing going for the Broncos defense, who are simply being put into an unfair position trying to be the strength of this team. The Broncos are in a state of total chaos right now...
--116 yards for Fargas in 2 1/2 quarters...
--Solid hit by Ian Gold keeps the Raiders from another first down and forces another field goal try...
--It's NO GOOD -- The Broncos still have a glimmer of hope, down 14...

Broncos Ninth Drive --

--What a rope that was, about 40 yards on a laser beam and the Broncos are across mid-field...
--Just like that Cutler is back in a rhythem...An incredible throw to Scheffler has the Broncos in scoring position again...
--Henry nearly fumbled again, but as it is he gains 5 yards...
--Another meaningless play to Cecil Sapp.....Wasted plays over and over...
--The Broncos woes on third down continue, as Cutler gets sacked and the Broncos will have to try another field goal...
--Raiders 24 - Broncos 13

Raiders Ninth Drive --

--Another piss-poor job by the Broncos in kick-coverage...
--Raiders will try and eat some clock...
--There's the turnover the Broncos needed, and just like that the Broncos have the ball with great field position...

Broncos Tenth Drive --

--The final play of the third quarter is a Cutler scramble for 2-yards. The Broncos have a chance....

END OF THIRD QUARTER -- RAIDERS 24 - BRONCOS 13

A+ for creativity
The only problem with your analogy is as follows.  A Bronco can't lead an army of faiduhs.  After all, you can, "...lead an army of faiduhs to a SB, but you can't get them to win / drink".  That quote from Chuckie, TB head coach.

Seriously?
We're losing and talking trash?  Awesome.  We've dominated the Raiders by a grand total of 17 points over our last three wins (and the margin of victory has gotten smaller every time) and we're talking trash??  We're a loss away from kissing the playoffs good bye (though this is like our third date with them and it's about time we got a little play) but we're good enough to keep ourselves from drafting an impact player and we're still talking trash???  Seriously, class when we win is nice, but humility when we're losing is just as good.  This is depressing.

by ejruiz on Dec 2, 2007 3:40 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

I agree,
and with that pick, this game may get sad.

I try to stay optimistic, even after last weeks loss, but it's getting tough.

Also, my personal philosophy is to keep trash talk out of it, in a win and in a loss.

Buddy
I've consented us having a Super Bowl/playoff run/shot a long time ago. If you read my diaries a week back, you would no.

My points have become evident these last 2 weeks for sure and I do not want to here the crap about this will wake the d up. How much waking up does it need?

This is one of those games again.

3rd of the year
This could be the 3rd "one of those games" we've had this year.....

That is unacceptable.

We could come out of this still, but the offense is looking sluggish.

It's an interception folks.
I hope our team isn't so quick to give up like our fans.

Let's focus on the game and not playoffs.  One play does not a game make.

This is the show we paid to see.

15 mil for two fumbles.

Has anyone seen Walker produce today?

Graham who?

Why aren't we running Selvin between the 20s?  Last I checked he was part of an 83 yard TD drive.

Reality Check.
These team is so inconsitent AND their lows are far lower than their highs are high.  Maybe some added experience will help us push that graph up and maybe eliminate some of the variance, but this is just ridiculous.  I guess we aren't what our record says we are, but rather what our point differential was we are.

You weren't bashed Dude
why do you think criticism is bashing, man?  People disagree on stuff all the time....

by Jeremy Bolander on Dec 2, 2007 4:05 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Dude
No one has been bashing you that I see, and no one would argue that we are inconsistent.

The disagreement came when you said we should "protect" our starters and forget about this season.  You seem to be taking our loses with more "I told you so" then with dissapointment.  I for one am cheering for our team to win.

Bronco fans don't bash each other,
we just have different evaluations of the team's ability level.  I disagree with sitting stars, their presence is needed to help the young players stay in the game.

Semi
for those who critisized me for saying what I did.
That answers both posts and then...

I root for the Broncos but I would rather have the truth exposed than us believing something we're not.

Like it's been said, I'm the against the grain guy.

Yea, I'm going to say I told you so because we're losing for the reasons I had talked about. It's not like we're playing great football and getting beat by a greater football team.

"Greater is an army of Faiduhs lead by a Bronco than an army of Broncos lead by a Faiduh."

There are no excuses, only results in the NFL.
That is why being a fan is so much fun, especially when we try to figure out what can be done to get our team into the league's stratosphere.  The team started a rebuilding action when they traded up to get Cutler at 11th, let's have some patience.  They have a very competitive core of young talent.

The inconsistencies are probably due to the incredible amount of injuries, exponentially more than San Diego.

I have never questioned oakland's talent.
They have been doing real good in recent drafts.  My concern has been their undisciplined play and not having the attention to detail to win games.  Let's see if Denver can comeback and avoid their sloppiness.

We need
to find our inner bronco, and quit trying to tit for tat with the faders.  They can sink much lower than us, and they are better at it.

If we play their game, we will lose for sure.

Sad excuse for a football team
This has just been a nightmare of a year for the Bronco's. Where's the heart, the passion, the pride? I don't see it. This team is a disgrace to past Bronco's teams that always gave it their all.
