Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Fun With Mocks - FoxSports.com -- 4/5/07

FoxSports.com released it's latest Mock Draft, and scanning down to the #21 pick I was surprised by the name the team over at Fox had us selecting --

Justin Harrell, DT - Tennessee

Not a name I have seen connected to the Broncos, though defensive line is the biggest area of need.  Here is what FoxSports had to say about Harrell --

This is a bit early for a guy who missed all but three games of his senior season with a torn left bicep, but the Broncos don't have many holes to fill and can afford to take a risk on a player with a high ceiling. With the Dan Wilkinson trade cancelled after he chose not to report to the team, the Broncos remain very thin on the interior.

Harrell has good size at nearly 6-5, 300 pounds, but doesn't present great value at #21.  If the Broncos find themselves in a situation where Harrell is their best bet I am hoping they trade down to acquire more picks, becuase Harrell should still be there later.

Thoughts??

Harrell
I have Harrell as the sleeper DL of this draft.  Had he not been injured, he would be rated much higher.  But the fact is he was injured.  He could actually slide to us at 56.

That...
Was more my line of thinking....Not all the way at 21....

This is just dumb
if this was round two, sure, but Denver needs an immediate playmaker on the field, not the training room.

Harrell is a player for teams with few holes and can better absorb risk.  Despite the buzz he's received, he's not even going to be 100% by draft day, and who knows what type of playing shape he'll be in when it comes time for camp?

Harrell was a first rounder prior to injury, but he's now looking fragile and may never cash in on his talent.

Denver selecting Harrell may prove last year's draft success a fluke...

Drafttek
had the Chiefs taking Harrell at #23 but I couldn't justify it. He was injured almost all of last season and is probably the third or fourth best DT in the draft. He'll fall and we can check him out later.

Exactly...
If he's there at 56, maybe, MAYBE we take a look....No way he is a first rounder...in my opinion anyway...

Harrell.
I still have him going to the Colts at #32.  I still think he's the 3rd best DT prospect in this draft (over Pitcock and the rest, but behind Okoye and Branch) and he certainly won't be around toward the end of round 2.  The Broncos taking Harrell at #21 is atrocious and trading back to get him isn't much better.  I'll stick to trading up for Branch or Nelson...
