Broncos @ Colts - 3rd Quarter Open Thread

Simply looking at the stats from the 1st half and you'd think the Broncos were winning the game.  That shows you just how good the Colts are, and how important Red Zone touchdowns are.  The Broncos had to settle for 2 field goals and that has been the difference.  I thought it was huge for the Broncos to hold the Colts right before halftime, and it will be huge to do the same to start the 3rd quarter.  Give your thoughts below....

Colts Fifth Drive --

--Decent coverage on the opening kick-off of the 2nd half. Need the defense to come up with a stop...
--What is the Broncos run defense doing? The only thing that has stopped Addai is the Two-Minute drill the Colts ran at the end of the half...
--The Colts quickly down the field again..with a big pass play followed up with another run by Addai....
--Addai to the goal line and the Broncos just don't have an answer for the Colts hurry up...
--A clinic by Peyton Manning and the Colts. Right down the field with ease. Touchdown Colts -- Colts 21 - BRONCOS 13

Broncos Sixth Drive --

--The Hixon experiment on kick-off returns may need to come to an end...You have got to get further than the 12 yard line on a kickoff...
--Cutler has thrown INT's in 7 straight games now, and that could be the thing that breaks the damn....

Colts Sixth Drive --

--I know Marshall wanted a penalty, but he HAS to run through the defender...
--Nate Webster with the penalty, and even when the defense does something good it gets negated...
--I could run through the holes Addai has today. This team really misses John Lynch
--Ian Gold burned again by Manning and Dallas Clark. In a disappointing year for the Broncos defense, Gold is the most disappointing.Touchdown Colts -- Colts 28 - BRONCOS 13

Broncos Seventh Drive --

--Hixon can only get to the 20, leaving a long field for Cutler again...
--Now the Colts defense can rear back and go after Cutler...
--Smart play call, the Broncos can ill-afford to have Cutler get killed. Keep running the ball and protect your quarterback
--3rd and one for the Broncos who look to get back in rhythm offensively.
--Nice play-action and a sweet block by Scheffler who seems to be getting back to 100%
--The Broncos can ill-afford to have something happen to Henry, who looked to have a cleat stick in the turf....
--I'd like to see the Broncos try and go down field a bit more, the Colts have no problem letting Cutler check down...
--Selvin Young can play folks, I've been saying since April and May...Nice drive by Denver in response to the Colts quick 14 points...
--12 men for the Colts, and the Broncos should be close to a first down and a TD
--Cutler keeps it and sneaks into the endzone....TOUCHDOWN BRONCOS!!! Colts 28 - BRONCOS 20

Colts Seventh Drive --

--A little over a minute left in the 3rd quarter. Somehow, someway the Broncos need a turnover...
--How is Reggie Wayne matched up with Ian Gold. I can't believe the Broncos just won't go man-to-man with the Colts Receivers.
--No three and out after the first down and the Colts are marching again to end the 3rd quarter...

END OF THIRD QUARTER -- COLTS 28 - BRONCOS 20

To watch the Colts game or to not watch the Colts game? Tis the question my heart rate depends on.

The Colts are this good
Gee, there's only 4 or 5 freaking seasons worth of evidence.

I would like to see a different returner
for the balance of this game.  Change things up and try to get control of ONE aspect of the game.

I retract that statement
Just overreacting....

They still need to tackle though.

Too bad
Broncomania's rejects have started migrating over here.

Just got to score once and pray for some luck on defense.

Champ or Bly or Doom
A turnover would help the cause

by Jeremy Bolander on Sep 30, 2007 4:17 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

It won't be Champ
they aren't even sniffing that way.  They've challenged Bly a tad, but really Manning is just going after Gold, Ferguson, and Shoate.

agreed.
Rod Smith is a Hall of Famer.

It breaks my heart
that Champ isn't even on the fringe of the leagues interception leaders, and that realistically he probably won't be all year.  Can a player get Defensive MVP consideration for being that kind of a force?  Maybe if the restof the team can come through.  LOL!  Did I just say that?  Haha!

nice drive
Rod Smith is a Hall of Famer.

by Jake The Stash on Sep 30, 2007 4:21 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Nice patient drive by Denver
they stuck with what worked and Cutler made a few plays along the way.

We just need to get settle in and not get too caught up in the speed of the game.

by ohnokoolaid on Sep 30, 2007 4:23 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Questionable
to return.  They have his ankle wrapped and say that it is a sprain.

by Jeremy Bolander on Sep 30, 2007 4:28 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bailey frustrated and starting to bite
Ferguson, as usual, is late, and Webster cannot once stay in his lane.

This is not the scheme's fault, this team is just not executing its assignments.
