Around SBN: VIDEO: The Daily Show Talks Jeremy Lin

Not sure of the reliability of this article

but it appears the Broncos are in trade discussions with the Bucs.

http://blogs.tampabay.com/bucs/2008/02/bucs-talk-trade.html

What do you guys think we might get for him?  Larry Coyer?  lol   I'm not sure, but it would be nice if we got something out of his departure.  Considering we will be losing an all-pro wide receiver(when not injured).

Well...
...we went to the Bucs to dump Plummer too.  Plummer retired and I think we just got left holding the bag (as did TB).

I hope we get something good if we trade.

We shouldn't trade him
Couldn't the idiot just turn that bonus into playing incentives for next season? If he delivers, then he gets his money. He can't expect the team to have blind faith in him--he has only delivered one good season to the Broncos.

If he is cut, he could never get that type of money with the injury he has--not for the 08 any ways. After that he will be over 30. Teams aren't going to pick up his huge contract.

Orange County is hot. Really! Haven't you seen the weather report?

The holdup
Apparently, the holdup to the deal right now (per CBSSportsline, I think) is that the Bucs want to deal a draft pick but the Broncos are asking for a defensive tackle.

Any ideas who the tackle they're targeting could be? I know squat about the Bucs.

Or so I'm told.

probably...
Joban Haye or Chris Hovan (former 1st round pick I think)

I would perfer Haye, as he's younger, but neither are huge names as far as I know, and neither have amazing strength... (Not sure if Slowik wants strength or speed more though)

Hovan's heavier, but Haye probably has more upside.

Hovan?
Wow, I thought he was out of football. He had a couple good years here in MN but then slid big time. I don't really know what happened, just that he went from solid foundational block to curbside refuse in less than a year.... while he was still pretty young, too.
Or so I'm told.

Hovan might be a good fit
for a one gap concept.  From what little I know about him, he is more suited for one gap than holding the line.  With Denver's altitude and emphasis on stamina, he seems to have the right body type, although I honestly don't know what the new defensive coordinator will do.
