Cope...
A sad, sad day.  Unique, in the same way as Harry Carey in baseball.  Not only did he name the Terrible Towel, he invented the damn things, and never made a dime, all pofits have always gone to charity...

What I admire most about Cope was he was an every-man.  Not a radio or broadcaster by trade, but merely a fan.  More teams should employ such people in their booths.

He was a character all right
I lived in Akron for about a year, and did some travel to Pittsburgh in that time.  I used to catch some games on the radio.  I'm glad I got the chance to hear him.  (I'll never forget a Browns fan friend of mine who told me that he thought Cope sounded like a castoff from the Sopranos!)

He's definetly one of the sports radio legends.
