Bah!
The Raiders have far more top ten losses against the Broncos than they want to admit.  1977 isn't the only one. >:P

What about the amazing run Shanny had on them back in the 90's?  Wasn't it like 12 straight wins?  muhahahahaha

Wiegman
The Broncos just signed him to a 2 year contract.

Although a short-term fix, this is an upgrade to the interior of the O-line.

Or so I'm told.

Excellent...
My biggest concern on Offense is definitely the OLine.  I hope we aggressively upgrade it during the LATER rounds of the draft as well. :)

Tackle
Right.  AFTER we draft the best OT at #12. JC needs a bodyguard.  If Harris's back goes out, Cutler's life is in the hands of Erik Pears.  I think he'd be safer on a motorcycle.

not at #12!!  please no!  I said LATER rounds. lol :P

Better article
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/mar/20/broncos-sign-ol-wiegmann/

Rasizer and Legwold do some good work, the best in town since Schefter. This article goes more into his skill set and how he fits with the Broncos.

Or so I'm told.

I am becoming a fan of Lee Rasizer
I never used to hit the RMN website, but have been going there over the Post recently.  I have sent a couple emails to Lee with salary cap questions/clarifications from his articles and he has been great about getting back to me (and even finding out and printing some of the info I asked for - although he may have been planning to do that anyway)

Jets (DT) Dewayne Robertson failed his physical
http://blogs.trb.com/sports/football/jets/blog/2008/03/drob_trade_dying.html

Looks like Denver may gamble on Robertson when he hits the open market and requires a brand new contract.

This guy has been playing through a bone on bone situation and, because of it, cant's pass a physical. The knee situation paired with Denver's (very public) cash issues make this deal seem very unrealistic.

I think Denver could use a guy like Roberston, but they're gonna need a nice dicount to take a leap on a guy playing with matches like that.

Hopefully Robertson will take less to come to Denver and will be willing to take a large sum of incentive based pay once realizes that his value on the open market isn't anywhere near where it would have been if he could pass a physical.

I never really liked the Robertson
situation anyhow.  He would have been overvalued even if we payed him half what he is making now.

Besides, if he failed the physical in Denver..that means he REALLY failed.  Didn't Al Wilson pass his physicals here only to fail everywhere else on Earth? ;)

DT
I'm puzzled why they haven't given Larry Tripplet a look.  Since being cut by Buffalo I haven't seen that another team signed him.  I think he's a solid player, won't make the Pro Bowl but a better than average starter.  Am I wrong?  Is he asking for too much money?

Robertson and Raiders
I didn't want Robertson anyhow. We can get a rookie like Pat Sims and groom him in our system instead of some retread. But as far as the Raiders are concerned, one moment that stuck out was the Lytle fumble. They think that they would have went to the SB if they get that ball. There were no guarantees. They would have had the ball on their own 5, anyway. ESPN could have did a "Top 5 reasons you can't blame" episode on that game. The only one on there that, I wish, would have went the Raider's way was the Tuck Rule. That started the Patriot Flukasty and made a demigod of the vastly overrated Tom Brady.

Ahhh, at least we retain our FB
Although I like Sapp...wouldn't mind seeing us draft the next Howard Griffith.

I wonder if Mike Bell's days are now numbers in Denver?

Worst raider moments
That article sure is a great read!

I see that the 2000 AFC championship game made their list.  I had to take a moment to post to remind them what a great player Shannon Sharpe was.  Bronco or Raven, he owned the raiders.

Classy fader fans
Another thing I forgot to mention, the list includes Super Bowl against Tampa.  A few clueless fans are still throwing stones at Barret Robbins five years later.  Wonder if they don't know or don't care.

Robbins is bipolar.  He had it under control with medication, but thought it was hurting his play.  So he stopped taking meds.  That combined with the pressure of the Super Bowl gave him a breakdown, from which he hasn't recovered.  The guy lost his family, career and health.  As of 2007 he had an arrest warrent in Florida for violation of probation.  Hopefully wherever the guy is now, he has his problem under control and is living something close to a normal life.

Then bill classy callahan blames the loss on Robbins instead of admitting the obvious:  that his team was outcoached and outplayed.  Way to scapegoat a guy with a serious problem that needed serious help.  I hope fans of other teams, especially the Broncos, would act with much more class and respect should one of our former players in such a difficult situation.

I agree 100%
Good for you for pointing that out to anyone who didn't know the story on that.  I remembered being shocked that the raider organization wasn't more concerned about one of their own, even under the circumstances (SB on the line).

I hope things work out for Robbins too.

Blaming an individual for a team loss is
wrong.  Football is a team game, individuals neither win nor lose games.  Individualism is an inherent characteristic of the raiders culture and is probably why they couldn't win the big one and why the rest of the NFL has been walking over them like an old doormat.
