Jay Cutler Huddles With Harlem Globetrotters
With the NFL Draft just weeks away, the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters have made their own selection of a new player for their game at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m. Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler will put the Globetrotters' gridiron skills to the test during the widely popular Globetrotter Football portion of the show.
In anticipation of the game, Cutler was joined at the Denver Broncos' training facility on Tuesday afternoon by Globetrotters star Wildkat Edgerson and the legendary Curly Neal. The duo gave the signal caller some advice on sharing the floor with his new temporary teammates and snapped some publicity photos. The two Globetrotters took a tour of the Broncos' training facility and met members of the team, including Broncos all-time leading receiver Rod Smith.
On gameday, Cutler will have in tow with him 100 kids who have been donated tickets from the Jay Cutler Foundation. The foundation helps at-risk youth overcome obstacles, graduate from high school, and continue on in their educational careers.
"The Harlem Globetrotters have been positive role models for the youth of the world for more than eight decades," Cutler said. "I am thrilled to give kids in the Denver area this unique opportunity to see these spectacular athletes perform a show they will remember for a lifetime."
"I feel strongly that I have been given a unique opportunity to give back to our community and support our young people," Cutler states on his foundation's Web site. "We can work together to help them reduce absenteeism, avoid criminal behavior, and lessen drug and alcohol abuse."
Sponsored by Campbell Soup Company, the Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating their 82nd consecutive season of touring the world. The Globetrotters have played in 118 countries on six continents, entertaining over 125 million fans and crossing barriers between cultures, societies and people from all walks of life. The Globetrotters are one of only six teams to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. When I was in grade school...
The Globetrotters are a great organization and do a lot of excellent charitable things. And once again, Jay demonstrates that he is a class act.
As a fan I'm really proud of our QB, on and off the field.
Curly
On a side note, please, Jay, run screaming from Campbell's soup!!! Have nothing to do with them!!!
Good news
Maybe you all new this but I didn't - so I am very glad to hear that Rod Smith is still with the Broncos. I am sure he can still be a mentor to our young receivers, even though he is not on the team. (I am assuming, that he is not there trying to make the final 53).
In other news it has been rumoured that the Playmobil Corporation has asked QB Jay Cutler to change his hair style, as it is currently in violation with one of their registered trade marks.
