With the 8th Pick In The MHR Community Mock NFL Draft...

The Baltimore Ravens, represented by Rexx, select....

MATT RYAN, QB - BOSTON COLLEGE

G.M. - Rexx -- The Ravens have so many needs, as injuries, poor play, aging veterans and pending retirement has uncovered the reasons that the Ravens slipped to 5-11 in 2007 from a record setting 13-3 2006 season. Even though we haven't heard for certain whether or not All-Pro left tackle Jonathon Ogden is retiring, the offensive line still needs help. The defensive line didn't put enough pressure on the opposing QB, mainly due to the loss of Adalius Thomas to the Patriots through free agency and the injury to DE Trevor Pryce. If Pryce comes back they should be fine, but if not, that will continue to be an issue. The most glaring weakness that was exposed on dense was the cornerback position, where injuries to both Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle allowed opposing QB's to pick the secondary apart. Rolle has epilepsy but even if under control, his skills have diminished to the point that a cornerback selection is a top priority. I would have selected a top notch corner with the 8th pick if Matt Ryan was off the board, and then taken a QB with our second round pick (Delaware's Joe Flacco or Michigan's Chad Henne). However, Ryan is the best player available, perhaps in the entire draft, and should be the rising star of this franchise under a new coaching staff for the next decade. The Ravens will put him at #3 on the depth chart, behind starter Steve McNair. Kyle Boller has proven over the years that he is not capable of leading this team and will be released, while Troy Smith will (temporarily) move into the backup role.

The Draft So Far --

#1 - Miami Dolphins - DE Chris Long, Virginia
#2 - St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long, Michigan
#3 - Atlanta Falcons - DT Glen Dorsey, LSU
#4 - Oakland Raiders - RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas
#5 - Philadelphia Eagles(via Trade w/ K.C. Chiefs) - DE Vernon Gholston, Ohio St.
#6 - New York Jets - DB Leodis McKelvin, Troy St.
#7 - New England Patriots - CB Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, Tennessee State

Up next, the Cincinnati Bengals, under the care of ilikekitties, followed by the New Orleans Saints, represented by Broncodude793.

Saints, right?
I'd say your greatest needs are CB and OLB.  You could also go for a DE, OL or even a WR, but I'd say those first two are the bigger needs.  There are guys available at each position that present good to acceptable value, despite the fact that several of those top prospects are now off the board.  I'd provide you the following options:

Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State
Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida

God luck!

Your best bets
are Jenkins, Clady, Harvey, Rivers and probably in that order, You need a LB but CB and OLine are probably bigger concerns in my opinion

Guru
Your list of "The draft so far" in this post skipped the New England pick.

Excellent pick
... and i totally agree on your team-need-evaluation. I personally think that this is best-case scenario for the Ravens - they can hope  for off-field-issues to slow Aqip Talib down to the 2nd...
From Denmark, so i excuse my self for un-knowing-ness...
