Broncos Release 2008 Schedule

The schedule is not supposed to be released until 2:00PM EST, however, somehow 850KOA has an advanced copy of the schedule. It looks pretty good; good time for the bye, not too many long roadtrips, KC at Arrowhead NOT in December, no "murderer's rows" of tough opponents:

Looks like an early home schedule....
they have to get to a fast start.

I wish the Cleveland game was in a Sunday.  That may prevent me from trying to go.  (I don't have much vacation time).  That sucks.

I like that the KC game at Arrowhead is not in December.

3 prime time games???
Don't get me wrong, I love it, but what is everyone expecting from us?

Pats in NE, monday night, right before our bye week.  Should be good.

I really like where the bye week is too.  Not too early.

6-1, 5-2 at home?  I want to be a homer and say we beat SD in Invesco this year.  I'm glad that game is early so we can maybe get it under wraps.  SD away to finish out the season is typical.  They have hopes that there might be a struggle at the top of the division, but I won't believe it till I see it.

A realistic start could have us 3-0 in the division, 3-2 in the conference, and 5-2 overall at the bye week.  Again, homerism says we can get one from SD early.

Oh man, I just added up 7-2 for the rest of the season!  :)  We have no excuse for not going 5-1 in the division this year.  The faders are only as tough as we let them be, and we have to get our nads back from Phyllis soon.  KC, meh...I'll take two please.

That thursday night gmae will be tough, and I can see us starting what might be a trend of tough, sentimental thursday night away games, and us not coming out on the right end.  Lets hope that the MHR faithful that can storm the gates in Cleveland will be able to keep the Broncos in that one!

Go Broncos!!!

(Man, I have been dying to say that!)

I wish my sig was as cool as mdierks!

10 wins is realistic...
I'll have a better idea if they can do that once the draft is out of the way and see how things play out in the preseason.

Absolutely
10 wins certainly looks realistic at this point, which means:

wildcard contender.

All I ask is that we charge into the playoffs with a healthy young roster and real potential to show some playoff teams a thing or two about Broncos football.

And if we can get that, win or lose, I will be expecting us to earn a spot that is striking distance from the SB in 2009...

I now have to go tend to Zappa...

My first prediction, to be revised in pre-season.
Time to be outrageous!  Here is my prediction for 2008!

Sep. 8
 at Oakland Raiders (Mon)
 7:15pm
L 13-20 Stunned? Just remember I called it.

Sep. 14
 San Diego Chargers
 2:15pm
W 38-28 Bailey picks off Phyllis to seal the victory after an exciting offensive shootout.

Sep. 21
 New Orleans Saints
 2:05pm
W 24-20

Sep. 28
 at Kansas City Chiefs
 12:00pm
W 31-13

Oct. 5
 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
 2:05pm
W 23-14

Oct. 12
 Jacksonville Jaguars
 2:05pm
L 20-28

Oct. 20
 at New England Patriots (Mon)
 8:30pm
W 34-28 OT Two Cutler-led drives to win it.

Oct. 26
 BYE

Nov. 2
 Miami Dolphins
 2:05pm
W 37-10

Nov. 6
 at Cleveland Browns (Thu)
 8:15pm
W 28-17 One year wonder Anderson replaced by Quinn.

Nov. 16
 at Atlanta Falcons
 1:00pm
W 24-13

Nov. 23
 Oakland Raiders
 2:05pm
W 34-10 Russell has an awful game as the Broncos humiliate the Raiduhs and get revenge.

Nov. 30
 at N.Y. Jets
 1:00pm
L 16-21 The Broncos continue to struggle playing in NYC.

Dec. 7
 Kansas City Chiefs
 2:05pm
W 45-14 The Chefs prove they are the new AFC West doormat.

Dec. 14
 at Carolina Panthers
 1:00pm
W 23-20 OT Another Cutler comeback.

Dec. 21
 Buffalo Bills
 2:05pm
W 10-7 Cutler's worst game of the year, yet still leads a comeback drive to win it at the end.

Dec. 28
 at San Diego Chargers
 1:15pm
L 20-37 Entering the game 12-3, needing a win over the 11-4 Chargers to win the division, the Broncos blow it and lose big to the Chargers.  The loss to the Raiders in the season opener comes back to haunt the Broncos, costing them the division by virtue of divisional records.

by Zappa on Apr 15, 2008 11:21 AM MDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I almost agree
I still think we own Oakland full out this year. I would hope for a 5-1 in the division but would be okay with 4-2 if we amased 10 wins. I say 10 wins until I look at the draft. I think another 9 or less season would kill us and no one on this team will play harder than the offense to prove we can win 10.I'll call 10-6 at this point.

You know, I voted 10 wins before
I made my predictions, but if you look at our schedule...we could easily put together 11-12 wins.  Or we could fall flat on our face and pull out just 8 or 9 wins.  I decided to be optimistic with my prediction. ;)

Water quality!!!
I think you need to check the water in Colorado - that might be the source of your collective delirium. 10 - 12 wins??? Have you forgotten how terrible we were last season? Both OL and DL were dominated at times last year.

There is not an away game on that schedule that we are not capable of losing!

by Jeeeeens on Apr 15, 2008 1:38 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Living in California
I do get the Colorado water after California has injected tons of crap into it so maybe. however looking at Shannahan History. the last time we were sub .500 (1999 6-10) we bounced back the next year with an 11-5 record. I think adding three wins to our total from last year isnt too much of a stretch. most teams either improve or worsen by 3 games each year anyway. I would much rather hope for 10-6 over a 4-12 season myself.

It sounds like the Danish need
a little bit of that good ole American optimism.  You Europeans are so darn gloomy, life is great! heh  ;)

by Zappa on Apr 15, 2008 2:49 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Life is great...
...and I do love you guys for your friendly and positive spirits - Europeans could learn a great deal from you. So I'll cast aside my gloom and take on a positive attitude. After all we do have the next big thing at QB, WR and RB - and all three are on my dynasty fantasy football team.

by Jeeeeens on Apr 15, 2008 3:11 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I share your sentiment almost...
we still need the franchise RB.  ;)  We almost have all the pieces needed to place an offensive juggernaught on the field.

Cutler, BMarsh, Scheffler.
Henry is okay...for now.
We need a solid #2 WR and a franchise RB and we're the early 90's Cowboys....or the late 80's 49ers baby!  :)

Zappa! Don't do it!
You DID NOT just put us down for losing the season opener to the faders!!!!

I don't care how bad things get, that is NEVER an option!!

Besides, that squeaking sound you heard coming from Buffalo last year on opening day was us getting around the corner on our way to a run of opening day WINS, not losses.

And a win in NE?  Why not?  I'm all in!  Shanahan takes these rival "mastermind" games pretty seriously.  No doubt he institutes the dreaded "8-TE set" for this game...

The late season come from behinds are very...Elwayesque...  Strong within young Zappa, the Broncomania is!

Nice realistic touch throwing some bad statistical games in there for Cutler.  Garrard he ain't, but I'll take the big guns over the licensed/permitted/outlawed guns any day!

VERY realistic season finale.  Sadly.

And for the last time, if you want to give the Broncos a divisional loss, ALWAYS, always use KC at arrowhead, even if it has zero chance of being true.  NEVER validate the faders!

I wish my sig was as cool as mdierks!

lol

As for the Raiders taking the first game...just remember who said it first.  I hate the Raiduhs, don't get me wrong, but I got a gut feeling we get hoe slapped on opening day.  We will get revenge later on in the season though and the Raiders eek out a 6-10 season, just a tad better than the Chefs 5-11 season. :P

I hate like hell to say it
but I think you might be right on the raider prediction. Puke. But mark my word, that Dec 28 game in SD will be very important.

That styg is one eloquent dude. For being a knuckle dragging Deadliest Catch kind of guy he uses words as descriptively as any poet. I really enjoy reading his stuff and he knows football and the Broncos as well as anyone.

Best and Worst case scenario
best 11-5
worst 9-7

If Denver goes 8-8 with this schedule, the Mile High sky will fall.

This schedule is CAKE.  If Denver played this schedule last year, they'd have gone 9-7 or 10-6.

Too early
Its way to early for me to predict the record of the Broncos. However, I really really want them to kick major ass this year. Living here in SD I am already tired of these morons here giving the Super Bowl to the Chargers. I want week 2 to be the ass kicking the Chargers deserve. I love the fact the "experts" ( an oxymoron if I have ever heard of one) are so not giving the Broncos any credit or chance and I think thats a major mistake. Remeber this Shanny has two rings and the only active coach the Pats Bellichek has more. Plus Shanny has had 3 consecutive seasons without the playoffs. The Broncos need to reestablish home field dominace again. If they go 8-0 or 7-1 at home the rest will fall into place.

by broncfanstuckinsd on Apr 15, 2008 11:54 AM MDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Oh come on...be outrageous!
I almost made the Broncos go 16-0 in my prediction, but that was too outrageous. ;)

Dec 28
I have been fortunate enough to attend a few road games over the years and I think broncofanstuckinsd will confirm that playing in SD is not a particularly hostile environment for the Broncos. I would guess 25% of the fans are wearing Bronco jerseys and Denver gets nearly as much support as the chargers. This could indeed be the division deciding game.

1997
I was at the Broncos/Charger game here at the Q in 1997 and it was almost 50-50 in fandom. I was in an endzone section across from the scoreboard and it was more Bronco fans than Charger fans. Let me put it this way, never has the Denver media begged Bronco fans to show up. Here in this lame place if you want the Raider game you have top buy 2 other games. Plus at one time the city had buy all unused tickets so the games would sell out. Only in the past 2 years has the Chargers been sold out every game. Wait until these clowns start losing and I hope Phyllis plays like the Eli he is

by broncfanstuckinsd on Apr 15, 2008 12:49 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I was at a Bronco-Charger game in
1998 when the Broncos were undefeated.  The Q(I still call it the "Murph") was a sea of orange.  I ran into ONE Charger fan who made some comment like "F-ing Bronco fans", but he said it real quietly. lmao  After all, he was surrounded.  That game might have been the closest I will ever get to attending a Bronco home game.

The Broncos won that one 31-16, even though Elway threw like 5 interceptions. lol  The Chargers were a joke that year.  Ryan Leaf.  lol

Oooh,
the Broncos play the Chargers on September 14, my birthday. I expect a great gift from the Broncos that day.
