Look, I love Jay, and I understand he’s a great player who can take us a long way, and I still have faith in him, but I hate the way our identity has changed. We used to establish the run and wear teams down and try not to make mistakes, and we’d rely on our defense to keep us in the game and make big plays to put us in position to win. Kyle Orton might not be the flashiest quarterback, but the guy is a winner, and that formula worked for us. I hate to say it, but that’s the truth."
People come in and out of the locker room all the time. Especially for me, I have played with so many different players. You know, for a guy like that to leave, I'm not surprised.
It's shocking. It didn't seem like he was going anywhere. This is the worst-case scenario.
Obviously, there was a lack of communication somewhere to where it blew this thing up to where it has got to now. I'm sad for both sides....
I understand Jay's feelings got hurt, but it's too bad it has got to where it is. I wish Jay would have got some better advice from whoever he was getting advice from.
Indeed, a league source tells us that Cook’s idea for solving the current impasse was — what else? — a fat new contract for Cutler. If the Broncos aren’t willing to give Cutler a new deal, then Cook and Cutler want to be traded.
Cook is a West Virginia native, so we’d ordinarily be inclined to give him the Pat White treatment. In this case, we can’t. Cook has been at the center of too many unnecessary controversies, and he has failed to use his tremendous influence over his clients to persuade them to find a way to make things work. Instead, Cook has thrived of late on destroying existing relationships, for no apparent strategic reason other than to get his name in the paper.
That's got to be intrusive to the organization. We've got to get this dealt with. At the end of the day, both parties are very important to the organization. Whatever it takes, whatever's necessary, we need to have Jay Cutler's back and we need to have coach McDaniels' back.
We need to make peace. We have a talented team. I think the coaches have a good idea of what direction we need to go and I think it would be unfortunate to have a rumble like that.
I'm hoping I get a chance to talk to Jay at some point. To me, you handle things inside. If you have a problem with a teammate, you deal with him. If you have a problem with your head coach, you deal with him, and then you move forward.
I'm am still open to any 'Un-Named Sources' to call me and talk direclty to the most important group in all of this, THE FANS!! Call me at (303) 731-5605, or email me -- milehighreport@gmail.com
They want me to come in and talk to 'em but I'm not doing it right now; I'm going to lay low. The [Broncos] deny everything. That's a problem. We know for a fact they tried to trade me.
