I became a Bronco fan while living in southern Colorado from 84-87. I took my Broncomania to northern California where I suffered through the laughter and ridicule of Raider and 49er fans. Naturally, the Broncos won the Super Bowl a year after I graduated high school and moved to San Diego(my place of birth). I went ape shit when the Broncos won the Super Bowl along with millions of other Broncomaniacs. I now live in Sacramento with my wife and daughter and still ever obsessive about everything orange & blue.

Horse Tracks - Thursday, August 21st

Horsetracksnew_medium

Hey everyone, I'm back for another Horse Tracks.  I'm not as skilled as the venerable mdierk or the all-knowing Guru, but I did my best!  Hopefully, you all will find these stories as interesting as I did.

Milehighreport_small_medium  Clear and the Denver Broncos to bring fast pass to the fans this year.

Milehighreport_small_medium  A betting website gives their take on the 2008 Denver Broncos. By popular demand, this link is just too horrible to be allowed to stay on Horse Tracks.

Milehighreport_small_medium Craig, Colorado named by the Denver Broncos as being one of the football team's biggest fans.

Milehighreport_small_medium Selvin Young knows history and does not want to become the next discarded running back to have formerly played for the Denver Broncos.

Milehighreport_small_medium All of Denver's running backs are ready to carry the load in 2008.

Milehighreport_small_mediumMore on Tom Nalen's injury troubles here and here.

Milehighreport_small_medium The Cornerbacks for the Broncos and Packers have one thing in common -- age

Milehighreport_small_medium I've always preferred using a QB as the holder for the kicker, but I don't recall John Elway ever holding for a kicker...

Milehighreport_small_medium Ryan Clady and Ryan Harris getting some love from Jim Armstrong.

That's all I got for today.  Have a Great Day!

I dont have a lot of time, but I just wanted to share a quick thought. I watched an interview of Andre Hall today and I must say that this dude is straight up. I've been a Selvin Young guy all along, but I think I'd be happy with Hall and Young splitting the carries. Andre has a team first mentality that appeals to me. lol Go Broncos! I would still like to see Selvin Young succeed...how to have my cake and eat it too........hmm...

Green Bay Packers @ Denver Broncos; Matchups Through The Years

This week is almost a moot point for me.  I was told(by a professor) that speaking in absolutes is often a good way to make things personal when debating an issue, however, I find it hard to believe that any Denver Bronco fan on this green Earth could debate that Super Bowl 32 wasn't the greatest matchup in NFL history between these two teams.  At least not from a Bronco fans perspective.  If you disagree, then by all means tell me why in the comment section.  Otherwise, enjoy this rehashing of the (or one of the) greatest games in Denver Bronco history!

Thoughts on Philosophy and Beastliness.

I see something that is ever so subtle, but it is there.  It appears to me that Mike Shanahan is moving away from a run dominated offense to a more of a passing oriented offense.  This is the genius of a coach that Shanahan is, he coaches to the ability of his players rather than forcing his players to play according to his coaching.

I think Shanny is figuring that that he has a quarterback that may be the most talented quarterback he's ever coached(huge statement) and he also has a crop of wide receivers that can decimate defenses with their skills.  He also sees that we are weak at the RB position, but he has a guy who is absolutely deadly catching the ball out of the backfield(Selvin Young).  Could we be using the pass to set up the run rather than the other way around?!

I am not an x's and o's guy like HT, but through the first two preseason games I have noticed something different in our offense so far. Mike Shanahan is turning Jay Cutler loose and opposing teams do not know what hit them until it's too late.  I have a feeling I am going to be reminded of the Philadelphia Eagles offense earlier in this decade.  Selvin Young is our Michael Westbrook.  Despite how well Andre Hall is playing, I think Young will be the better fit in this years offensive scheme.

I see us coming out with a vengence in the first half and then pounding the ball in the running game during the second half(I believe Jay Cutler has scored 3 TDs in 4 drives, what?!?  Not this team that couldn't score a TD if their life depended on it!).  We just have too many offensive weapons.

Now this is where I need to state that we've only had two preseason games and I am getting WAY ahead of myself.  However, it's hard not to get excited when your team is head and shoulders above last years preseason start.

***One other thing that struck me was the differences between a real beast and a wannabe beast.  BMarsh, coming off of a 102 reception seasons, says he still has much to prove before he can be called an elite receiver is a real beast.  Selvin Young on the other hand is coming off of a 700 yard outing as a rookie yet calls himself a beast is nothing more than a wannabe.  Let Selvin prove he deserves such an honor.

Though I am done with MHR History posts for the year, I am too much of a history nut and Bronco junkie to let it go completely. Therefore, I shall be doing weekly posts on our opponents from a historical standpoint. I'll leave Guru to do the numbers and stats stuff for his weekly primers. What I want to do is look back through the histories of the upcoming match up and find the best game(In My Humble Opinion) ever played between the Broncos and whatever team they are going to play. For some of us it will be nice to reminisce about the good ole days, but at times it'll become more of a history lesson since some of us haven't had the honor of being Bronco fans since the beginning.
