I am a lifelong Broncos fan. Growing up in SW Kansas was not easy when the Broncos would get smoked in the Super Bowl and Chief fans heckled me. Good thing that Denver won before I left so I could rub it in! I got to Colorado in 1998 and moved to New Mexico in 2005.
I am now in New Mexico and have to contend with Cowboy and fader fans. While my Broncos take the top billing, I root for the Rockies in baseball (2007 NL Champs), Phoenix Suns in basketball, Avalanche in hockey. Since I went to neither school, I root for Kansas (National Champs and Orange Bowl Champs) and Kansas State.
a fan of
Colorado Rockies
Phoenix Suns
Denver Broncos
Kansas St. Wildcats
Kansas Jayhawks
Colorado Avalanche

Texans cut Mike Bell, Ephraim Salaam has knee scoped
Here's some news about a couple of former Broncos and neither one is positive.
Found this at the Houston Chronicle:
Texans offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage damage in his left knee and will be out from three to four weeks.
To replace Salaam, the Texans signed veteran free agent offensive tackle Torrin Tucker. They considered Houston native Fred Miller, who played at Baylor before moving to the NFL and playing for the Rams, Titans and Bears.
“Ephraim got up Thursday morning and felt something under his kneecap,” coach Gary Kubiak said today. “He got an MRI, and they did the scope after it. We expect him to be back for the start of the season.”
To clear a spot on the roster for Tucker, running back Mike Bell was placed on waivers.
Meanwhile, general manager Rick Smith said today that the Texans could bring back guard Charles Spencer and sign him to the practice squad. After the Texans waived Spencer in July, Carolina claimed him. The Panthers waived him Thursday, saying he was too out of shape to contribute.
“The door’s still open,” Smith said. “We’ve been in contact with him. If he gets in shape, then another chapter in the Charles Spencer story could be written with our team.”
Because offensive tackle Scott Jackson (foot) and guard Fred Weary (leg) also are out, the Texans are still shorthanded in the offensive line.
Rookie Duane Brown and veteran Eric Winston are the starting tackles. Backups Rashad Butler and Brandon Frye will get a lot of playing time in Saturday’s preseason game against Denver.
I hope Mike Bell has a back-up plan.

Bailey and Robertson will not play in Houston
The Denver Post reports that Champ Bailey and Dewayne Robertson will sit out of the Houston game Saturday night. I do think that this is a wise move for them. I would be more concerned if this was week 3 in the preseason.

Zozobra! Just what the Broncos need to kill the blues.
With some people still feeling blue with the suspension and injuries for the Broncos, there is a possible cure! Zozobra, a huge marionette built in Santa Fe, is a good way to make you feel better. People will fill Zozobra with anything negative (divorce papers, bankruptcy, anything else that has made people blue in the past year). This thng moans and groans, then they set the thing on fire (not the smartest thing to do in dry New Mexico). Maybe anything negative on the Broncos would work. Perhaps some Henry, Walker and Rice jerseys would be perfect to destroy and take our blues away. The Zozobra will be "set aflame" on September 4, so it will be a fresh start for the new season. Horse Tracks - Wednesday, August 6th
Here's a Wednesday edition of Horse Tracks. Enjoy!
Well, we all know by now about Brandon Marshall's suspension, but there were other stories that hit too.
Tom Nalen's knee is still a hot topic. See here
Here are some notes on camp and a story on Spencer Larsen. What a wild few weeks for him! See here and here
Matt Prater continues to impress, having hit 44-45 kicks in camp
Foxworth is taking charge in camp this season. See here
Bernie Lincicome feels the Marshall punishment makes little sense.
The fine group of DenverBroncos.com bloggers continue to break down Training Camp

AROUND THE NATION
The divorce is complete in Green Bay
Gary Baxter, who blew out both knees against the Broncos in 2006, had more surgery as he continues to try a comeback.
It's never to early to be keeping an eye on teams we'll be playing early in the season, like the Saints, for instance.
These guys believe that 2 games missed by Marshall is worse than Javon Walker tanking it for the whole season. Classic!

How long have you been on MHR??
While we are all focused on the Broncos Training Camp, we need to take some time to reflect and remember what MHR was and is to all of us. I will give you my story and how I stumbled into this site.
In August 2007, I was excited for the season to start. At the time I was in a new city (Albuquerque, NM), new job, engaged to my finacee' and prepping for an October wedding. I needed to get my Broncos fix. I always went to the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News and other sources for Broncos news. It was frustrating how negative the news was. The deaths of Darrent Williams and Damien Nash were fresh in our minds then. I was very optimistic on the personnel our team had. We had Travis Henry, Sam Adams and Simeon Rice to help our new guys (boy, was I blind and wrong on those guys).
At that time, I stumbled across a site called Mile High Report. A guy called "TheSportsGuru" was writing articles and giving updates on the preseason and training camp. He was mainly on his own with some help from some other fans making comments. I signed up for MHR and kept up by reading and making my own comments (sometimes on Guru's spelling and once for a Raiders advertisement....a sacriledge in my book). I then started finding articles, copying them and commenting on them. After the season, I kept finding some articles and posting them in the fan diary (now fanposts). In February or March I kept posting at the same time as Guru and he contacted me to handle Horse Tracks. I almost told him no, but I couldn't resist the fun of finding stories to report to the masses of MHR membership. It is a pleasure to bring you Horse Tracks (with Zappa's help) and see all the comments.
I can't believe it has been a year for me on MHR and two years for the site! What an amazing run. Thank you Guru, for letting me help out and thank you all for the bonding and friendship I have gained with fellow fans that bleed orange and blue (and some other colors too)!
Feel free to vote and comment on your experience with MHR.
