The Pundits and MSM Strike Again!!!
NFL.com's Broncos "Preview"
http://www.nfl.com/kickoff/story?id=09000d5d80a4591c&template=with-video&confirm=true
Let's see... horribly written, poorly researched, and failed to look at anything beyond what's on the surface of things.
Oh that and stretching to say Cutler had a "mediocre" year with 3500 yds, 20 TDs/14 INTs, 64% completion rate... and an "obsession" with throwing to the highest YPAC receiver in the league and best playmaker on a very young and inconsistent team. OMG, why would Cutler do such a thing?!?
I think I just threw up in my mouth...
I can't wait for The Quest to shut all these Pundits up. =)

Mike and Mike
So, I've been a fan of Mike and Mike for awhile now. I know some people do not like them on the pure basis that they are related to ESPN, but I have found their show to be entertaining, insightful (typically), and with a lot of good, fun, and colorful guests. I also like them as they remind me of an old married couple who yell at each other non-stop (it's their sch-tick, I know, but it still makes me LOL).
Lately, however, I have found them to be a bit disappointing with their stories to be very vanilla and dominated way too much by Fay-vree and stories that you can simply read on the ESPN front-page.
I give them a slight pass w/r/t Favre as Greeny is a huge J-E-T-S fan, but the lack of more under-the-radar football stories lately has irked me a bit. I have begun to think that perhaps their fame and national publicity has gotten to them. They are too busy making guest appearances on Leno and the White House, singing the national anthem at Wrigley, and doing silly publicized pentathalons to do their homework on good but less covered stories that I feel they used to do.
They just started doing their "2-a-days" as well, where they cover 2 NFL teams per day. They did the Broncos this morning and I was fairly disappointed in that they went through 5 "questions" on the team and the questions and insight were all so obvious and with barely any real substance. Again, the information they shelled on the Broncos didn't include anything beyond what was already in the headlines lately or just obvious stuff (Marshall, run D, run O, and whether or not Shanny is on a "hot seat"). I might be upset at them, because both predicted an 8-8 record for us, but still give me more information than that! =/
So I just wanted to poll people here to see if any of you are fans and if so, do you feel the same way?
One question I have for any M&M listeners out there, did they even cover the Rod Smith retirement or Lynch stories at all? I might've just missed their coverage, but I suspect that these might not have even been on their radar...
Have a great week, guys!

How the "average" fan viewed Rod Smith:
So, I had a good laugh today... I saw this comment on the espn article about Rod's retirement:
"Sorry, not a hall of famer. Maybe a Bronco hall of famer, but not the one in canton, sorry, that's a joke right?! He was good, but never even in the top 12 in the league at any time during his career. Sorry Bronco fans!"
My goodness, are they that clueless... My response:
LoL... this comment pretty much sums up how little the rest of the league knew about Rod Smith. Because he just went about his business and performed at a high level without making a big deal out of it, people do not realize that he:
* had 113 catches in 2001, tops in the league
* had 100 catches, 1600+ yds receiving in 2000, good for 4th & 2nd in the league
* had 86 catches, 1200+ yds in 1998, good for 3rd & 4th in the league
* 8 seasons of 1000+ yds receiving
* 9 seasons of 70 or more catchesAnd consider that out of his 12 years of some games played, in his first 2 years he was off/on the practice squad or just fighting to be on the game-day roster, and for his final year he was playing on a hip that the doctors said should not have been physically possible.
Anyways, not all fans are like this. There are actually a surprising number of comments from Raider, Charger, and Chiefs fans who give Rod his due, which was refreshing to see.
Have a great weekend, all. In Rod We Trust!!!!

USA Today's Top 5 Today and All-Time
Not sure if you guys have seen these yet, but USA Today seems to be doing Top 5 lists (all time and present) on a position by position basis. The link is for Kickers and this one was for Corners:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2008-06-22-top-five-cornerbacks_N.htm
As with all lists, us readers will forever have gripes, but at least there is some Bronco love in the two lists so far... ;)
