Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs -- Tomahawk-Chop The Chiefs Game Day Open Thread

     @

Date: Sunday, November 11, 2007

Time: 11:00 a.m. MST

Teams: Denver Broncos (3-5) at Kansas City Chiefs (4-4)

Location: Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City, MO

The smell of autumn is in the air and the Broncos are back to AFC West football after a 4 week layoff.  I have a good feeling about the game, for reasons even I am having a hard time figuring out.  Perhaps it is the realization by the coaching staff that the key to this season and the season's to follow are not guys like Simeon Rice or Amon Gordon.  Maybe it was the comments of Brandon Marshall last weekend, or Rod Smith on during the week.  Maybe it's the Sushi I ate last night?!?!  What ever the reason I am looking for a Broncos win!

Oh, the MHR RADIO CHATROOM will be open for your use.  I will be in both places, so feel free to go there and chat about the game as it is going on....For those of you who cannot watch the game, head there for more of a real-time experience, but make sure to hang around both places today.  Simply head to the site like you would if you were listening to the show.  Piece of cake!

BRONCOS INACTIVES --

S  John Lynch
RB Travis Henry
RB Mike Bell
OL Isaac Snell
DE Larry Birdine
DE Paul Carrington
WR Javon Walker
QB Darrell Hackney(Hackney is in uniform per the NFL's rules on #3 QB's)

Notes -- I said it the other day and once again was proven right -- Lynch and Henry out.  Selvin Young will once again get the chance to show what he can do with the bulk of the carries.  Of the 4 newbies brought in during the week, WR Taylor Jacobs and DE Josh Mallard are active and in uniform for today's game....

CHIEFS INACTIVES --

RB Larry Johnson
CB Rashad Barksdale
LB Pat Thomas
G Herb Taylor
T Will Svitek
WR Bobby Sippio
DT James Reed
QB Tyler Thigpen will be the Chiefs 3rd QB.

Notes -- RotoWorld is now reporting that Larry Johnson does, indeed, have a cracked bone in his foot. The rest of the Chiefs inactives are no names and scrubs...

FIRST QUARTER --

Pre-Game Notes -- According to Mason's blog, the starting safety pair was Hamza Abdullah and Foxy. No Nick Ferguson, in the starting lineup anyway...

Broncos First Drive --

--First play nearly is a disaster, but Cutler uses his illusiveness to escape...
--And now Brandon Marshall limps off...Not what we need at all...
--Tell me that run didn't look like T.D.??? Right up the middle for a huge gain...
--That will probably be a block in the back....
--Like all year. The Broncos offense does some great things, followed by a couple of plays of going backwards...
--You can tell the Chiefs feel like the best way to play the Broncos offense is to bring alot of pressure...
--A promising drive will end with a field goal attempt...and it's good...BRONCOS 3 -- Chiefs 0

Chiefs First Drive --

--One positive over the past couple of weeks has been the play of the return and coverage teams. Definitely gotten better..
--Priest Holmes has a first down with two solid runs. Conditioning will still be something to keep our eyes on..
--Solid job by the Denver defense, stuffing the Chiefs and nearly coming up with a turnover....
--More penalties...Denver needs to clean that up and the Broncos will start inside the ten yard-line.....Again.

Broncos Second Drive --

--Browns use 16 plays to go 71 yards in nearly nine minutes to take a 7-0 lead over Pittsburgh...
--Ryan Harris gets his first taste and Jay Cutler does the exactly what he cannot do, throw an interception....Bad, bad pass...

Chiefs Second Drive --

--Solid job by the defense again, forcing a field goal try after the turnover...and it's good...barely. Broncos 3 - Chiefs 3

Broncos Third Drive --

--Another holding penalty on the Broncos return will back the offense up again. Two solid drives, very different results...Hopefully Jay got the pick out of his system early...
--Steelers get a field goal, only to see Josh Cribbs run the kickoff back to the Steeler 3 yard line....
--I'm telling ya...the more I see of Selvin Young the less I want to see of Travis Henry...
--Young again...Loooooooooooove It!
--Scheffler needs to hold onto that football. Sure, it was a tough hit, but you have got to hold onto that ball...
--Broncos do a good job to swap field position...Wait...Another penalty on the Broncos...

Chiefs Third Drive --

--The Chiefs driving again, but the Broncos finally get the turnover. Abdullah has done a nice job getting deep and Paymah comes up with the pick....

Broncos Fourth Drive --

--Broncos need to be ultra careful here...
--The Broncos face a 3rd and 6 when the second quarter commences...

END OF FIRST QUARTER -- BRONCOS 3 - Chiefs 3
