Welcome To MoTown - Broncos @ Lions Game Day Open Thread

Date: Sunday, November 4, 2007

Time: 11:00 p.m. MST

Teams: Denver Broncos (3-4) at Detroit Lions (5-2)

Location: Ford Field - Detroit, MI

Hopefully everyone remembered to turn their clocks back...If not, you definitely know now, since you would be looking for a game that won't start for another hour.  We are still awaiting the inactives, who will be coming momentarily...

Broncos Inactives --

S John Lynch
S Curome Cox
RB Mike Bell
DT Amon Gordon
OL Isaac Snell
WR Javon Walker
DE Jarvis Moss
TE Chad Mustard

NOTES -- The "Thursday Theory" remains intact, with John Lynch inactive after missing most of Thursday's workout. One positive, I guess, is we'll finally get to see Hamza Abdullah.

Lions Inactives --

QB Dan Orlovsky
RB Tatum Bell
DB Dovonte Edwards
G Blaine Saipaia
G Manny Ramirez
DE Ikaika Alama-Francis
DE Kalimba Edwards
CB Tony Beckham

NOTES -- Awww, man!! No Tatum Bell reunion as the colossal bust has been ruled inactive by the Lions. Kevin Jones will be the feature back, and he has done a great job the past two weeks.

Broncos First Drive --

--Solid return for Hall, who definitely has given a boost to our special teams....
--Two plays and not much doing against an aggressive Lions D playing with alot of confidence.
--The offense fails to take advantage of solid field position, going three and out. Time to see the Broncos defense.

Lions First Drive --

--Unlike the Broncos, the Lions gain 17 yards on the ground.
--Kevin Jones averaging 7 yards per carry...Not good.
--4 plays, 4 runs, 2 first downs, and the Broncos still have no answer for the ground game.
--A Simeon Rice sighting...
--Another first down for the Lions, a third down conversion this time. Lions moving right down the field.
--One team is playing with alot of energy, alot of effort. One team isn't. I'll let you guess which is which...
--Two solid defensive plays this time, bringing up 3rd and long. Already a big play in thos game
--Nice throw but Jones is unable to make the catch. Nice job holding the Lions to a FG try...
--Lions 3 - BRONCOS 0

Broncos Second Drive --

--Need something a bit better than a 3 and out from the offense this time.
--Lions try an on-side kick, something that worked against the Broncos earlier in the season, but Denver is ready. Broncos have the ball inside the Lions 45 and need to take advantage...
--Broncos looking at 3rd and 1, an important conversion....
--Of course Rich Gannon likes the Detroit D...Why wouldn't he?? First down Denver...
--Is it just me, or is the O-line, as presently built, better at pass blocking than run-blocking?
--Nice catch by Marsahll
--Chargers 7 - 0 over Minnesota
--What does $30 mill get you?? False Start penalties on 3rd and 1/2 yard...
--Costs the Broncos a chance at an easy first down, then Elam misses the field goal....The Broncos just cannot get out of their own way this year at all...

Lions Second Drive --

--Broncos have had great field position twice today already and have failed to get anything done.
--Can someone pick that off please???
--3 missed tackles by the front 7 lead to another DB tackle, and another 5 yard gain on the ground...
--Another first down, a QB sneak on 3rd and five. I am getting sick to my stomach...
--Broncos pass-defense doing a solid job early against the Lions passing game....
--4th and 2 and the Lions are going to go for it. The Detroit Lions has NO RESPECT for this defense...
--And why should they, the Broncos are off-side and the Lions get an easy first down. Sam Adams can get off the field in time.
--Dre Bly gets a chance to showboat a little after the tackle on Roy Williams for a big loss.
--A Lions penalty will end the first quarter...
