The Idiot of the Year Award

It's only February, but I am awarding the Idiot of the Year Award now.  Scott Wiese, a die-hard Chicago Bears fan made a bet before the Super Bowl.  In a bar in Decatur, Illinois last week, Wiese signed a pledge in front of everyone that stated that should the Bears lose to the Colts in the Super Bowl, he would change his name to, you guessed it, Peyton Manning.

Wiese, a 26 year-old office supply store employee(meaning he works at, like, a Staples) began the process by filing paperwork today in Macon County Courts.

"I made the bet, and now I've got to keep it," said Wiese.

Umm, no you don't.

"I think I kind of represent all Bears fans," he said. "Not that I'm saying they're all idiots like me, but I represent their passion because I really care about my team, you know?"

Umm, no I don't.  I am passionate about the Broncos.  I take time from my family to focus on this blog.  I have the Bronco logo emblazened on my left shoulder, a permanent mark of my passion.  My name, however, is the one thing that is truly mine.  For Scott Wiese to take something so personal, and throw it away becuase of a bet is just plain stupid, and I hope he comes to his senses.

What's the worst that can happen?  He's known as Scott Wiese, the guy that doesn't honor his bets?  Or the Peyton Manning that was dumb enough to change his name becuase of a bet.  You know, the Peyton Manning that works at Office Max.

Dude, you win.
