Teams: Denver Broncos (2-1) at Indianapolis Colts (3-0)
Location: RCA Dome -- Indianapolis, Indiana
Colts Second Drive cont...
--The Colts have a First and 10 at the Broncos 20 to start the second quarter...
--We have seen this before...Reggie Wayne wide open
--We saw way too much of that last week. Horrible tackling by the run defense and the Colts are on the board...Touchdown Colts...BRONCOS 10 - Colts 7
Broncos Third Drive --
--The Colts do a good job on coverage this time, and the Broncos start from the 20. Important for the Broncos to at least hold the ball for awhile and not give the Colts the ball back quickly...
--Broncos using alot of 3-tight end sets...Watch out for Scheffler to go deep with the play-action out of this set....
--This looks alot more like Denver football.. Throwing the ball out of alot of 2 TE sets, play-action to the Tight End, and like it did then, it is working...
--Nate Jackson on the catch, and now that the Colts are looking run the Broncos are going to the air.
--Big first down for Henry and the Broncos, who are nearing the Red Zone again...
--Another first down, this time to the former Colt Brandon Stokley. Amazing what being able to run the ball can do for the passing game....
--Dangerous play that the Colts recognized from the start...Big 3rd down...
--Selvin Young nearly gets to first, and the Broncos will have to settle for a field goal. Can't settle for field goals against the Colts...
--The kick is good, and the Broncos add to their lead. BRONCOS 13 - Colts 7
--If the defense can get a stop on every other possession, at least, it would go a long way to help the Broncos get a W
Colts Third Drive --
--AGAIN, the Broncos coverage team fails and the Colts will have a short field. Hard enough to stop Peyton Manning, almost impossible when he needs to go 30 yards to get into field goal range.
--The Broncos still having trouble against the run. Still very discouraging...
--We may have the worst linebacking corp, as a group, in the entire league. What a change from the beginning of 2006
--Colts moving easily down field now, and this might be the shootout I was hoping to avoid...
--More poor tackling, this time by Dre Bly has the Colts knocking on the door again..
--Broncos not getting a pass rush because Manning is getting rid of the ball very quickly...
--Solid job defending the screen...
--The Colts have done a good job forcing the Broncos into field goals, now the Broncos need to do the same...
--Manning can move just enough to by time to get the ball to Clark who is WIDE OPEN. They take the lead, because the Broncos are settling for field goals...Touchdown Colts -- Colts 14 - BRONCOS 13
Broncos Fourth Drive --
The Broncos have scored on all three possessions, but two field goals have allowed the Colts to need just two possessions to take the lead. Broncos offense needs to answer again..
--What a difference it makes when your kicker can force a touchback... --Whatever happens on this drive, make sure it lasts the rest of the half...
--A big 3rd and two coming up. The Broncos have been solid all day and need it again here...
--Three straight runs and the Broncos will have to punt. This is a huge moment in this game. The Broncos defense needs to step up, with the Colts also getting the ball to start the 2nd half...
Colts Fourth Drive --
--Solid coverage that time, and at least the Colts will have to go 3/4 of the field for a TD...
--More poor tackling, and Anthony Gonzalez, who I watched do just that at Ohio State for years. Gotta tackle after the catch...
--Big third down....and it looks like Dumervil was held on the play, but an offsides on Rice will give the Colts another chance...That doesn't help...
--Great job by the defense there. It's a nice showing by the pass defense...
Broncos Fifth Drive --
--Starting at their own 8 yard line should mean the Broncos will just run the clock out.
--An injury stops the clock after it appeared both team were ready to go to the locker room....
--Not good...Rob Morris' knee gives out with little contact. The Colts staff has already put a sleeve around the left knee.
--A Travis Henry run will end the first half. Solid all around, but the Colts still lead....
END OF FIRST HALF -- COLTS 14 - BRONCOS 13
