Casey Wiegmann Named To Pro Bowl

I know this was posted in the FanPosts(thank you) but I always like to provide the official announcement as well --

Denver Broncos center Casey Wiegmann has been named to the American Football Conference roster for the annual AFC-NFC Pro Bowl, the National Football League announced Tuesday. The game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 8, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu at 2:30 p.m. MST and will be televised by NBC.

Wiegmann, who initially was selected as a first alternate to the AFC Pro Bowl squad, centered a line that established a team record by allowing only 12 sacks that tied for the fewest in the league in 2008. The Broncos posted the best sack percentage per pass play in the league in 2008, allowing 1.9 sacks per pass play (12:632).

The 13-year veteran, who started all 16 games for the Broncos after joining the team as a free agent during the offseason, extended his streak of games started (127) and consecutive offensive snaps (8,046), through the conclusion of the 2008 season. His 127 consecutive games started are the most among league centers.

Wiegmann, 35, anchored an offense that ranked second in the league averaging 395.8 yards per game while totaling the second-most yards (6,333) in team history. He helped the Broncos rank third in the league averaging 4.8 yards per carry in 2008. He also blocked for quarterback Jay Cutler who registered a franchise-record 4,526 passing yards in 2008.

Wiegmann, who will be making his first trip to the Pro Bowl, joins Cutler and wide receiver Brandon Marshall as the team's Pro Bowl selections. Their selections were based on an equally weighted vote of NFL coaches, players and fans. Their selections mark the 28th consecutive season that the Broncos will have at least one representative in the contest and increase Denver's all-time Pro Bowl totals to 57 players who have received 143 individual nominations.
