Yes, it is true, I am back home in the hot and sticky Midwest. That doesn't mean, however, that I can't keep tabs on what is happening at Dove Valley from afar. I mean, this website was built on that premise and, well, we've done alright for ourselves.
Here is the latest coming out of the Valley, at least until some of our members get their thoughts posted later tonight.
It is the Broncos' turn to be visited by a NFL officiating crew. I was there for this portion of Camp last year and it is fun to see 11x11 with actual referees calling the action. The crew will also take time to go over any rules changes with the media. Ironically, it is none other than Ed Hochuli's crew that will be spending a couple days in Denver. Luck of the draw, I guess.
LB Nic Greisen was placed on IR today ending his season. Greisen was hurt during yesterday's practice and had to be carted off the field. The Broncos wasted no time bringing in his replacement, however, LB Braxton Kelly will take Greisen's roster spot marking his second stint with the Broncos. The roster stands at 81 including Knowshon Moreno. When the Broncos do finally get Moreno in camp they will have to release a player.
Brian Dawkins was seen leaving the practice field alongside a trainer. It was apparently an upper-body injury.
MHR favorite Jack Williams had a big day intercepting Kyle Orton twice, including a pick down at the goal line that the 2nd year DB took 99 yards for a touchdown. Williams has been starting at the nickel-corner and with plays like that will continue to hold off rookie Alphonso Smith for the job.
Robert Ayers hit the practice field for the first time, seeing action on the 2nd unit behind Elvis Dumervil.
Jarvis Moss returned, though you have to wonder for how long. Once you let a coach know that your heart isn't really into it, you imagine it is only a matter of time. Could be a purely financial move. If Moss quits he would owe the Broncos $3.6 million. If the Broncos cut him, he would keep money already earned, including the signing bonus. What would you do?
REMINDER - The Broncos will be practicing at Invesco Field this Thursday Night. It is free and open to the public. You can get all the information HERE
