It's only Monday, but the Denver Broncos know they will be short-handed against the New York Jets, especially on defense. Speaking at his weekly Monday press conference, Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels listed 5 starters out of the game against the New York Jets, all players that started the game against Baltimore on Sunday.
LB Robert Ayers, S Brian Dawkins, CB Andre Goodman, S Darcel McBath and LB Wesley Woodyard were all injured in Sunday's game and will miss Week 6 action.
Goodman last only four plays after trying to return from a quad injury. Woodyard has been in and out of the lineup with a hamstring, Ayers, Dawkins and McBath were all 'newly injured' during the game. Dawkins appeared to injure a knee while McBath was carted off after injuring his ankle.
The injuries leave the Broncos especially thin at safety, with McBath being Dawkins' primary backup. That role will likely fall to fellow 2nd-year player David Bruton.
