With the #12 pick in the 2010 MHR Community Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select....
OLB Sergio Kindle, Texas
|
Miami Dolphins Round 1, Pick #12 overall GM
|
Details of the pick after the jump...
From GM black_knight101: Sergio Kindle is the most complete OLB prospect in this class, and he projects very well to Bill Parcells 3-4 scheme. He has experience as both a down lineman and linebacker, which will help him tremendously in the NFL, as defenses transition more and more to amoeba schemes and require flexibility from their defensive players. He has both the athleticism and experience to be successful, and the Dolphins are desperately in need of the improved pass rush that he will provide. They have no proven OLBs right now, and I targeted this position from the beginning for this selection.
Commishes' Comments: Ernesto: Kindle is a versatile pass rusher who is best suited for the 3-4 OLB role. With Joey Porter's departure, there's definitely an opening in Miami for someone with his skill set. He's a freak athlete who just started harnessing his raw talents under defensive coordinator Will Muschamp at Texas. He's already an elite prospect and I think he's barely scratching the surface of his potential. I like this pick by the Dolphins, even over some of his competition at the position. Sayre: Interesting pick. The Dolphins are heading into the draft, at least at this point in time, with a need for a pass rushing outside linebacker. Sergio Kindle was a ferocious pass rusher at Texas, and he has enormous potential for the next level. A rare athlete for the outside linebacker position, Kindle should be an immediate starter for the Dolphins.

With the #13 pick in the 2010 MHR Community Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select....
OT Trent Williams, Oklahoma
|
San Francisco 49ers Round 1, Pick #13 overall GM JDub15 |
From GM JDub15: The highest priority for the Niners heading into the draft is to upgrade arguably the worst offensive line in the entire league. Football outsiders ranks them dead last in adjusted line yards (a statistic which attempts to separate the offensive line from the running back). They also lead the league in percentage of running places which were ‘stuffed’ (meaning their running backs were tackled behind the line of scrimmage). Their pass protection was not much better, surrendering a sack on 8.1% of passing plays (26th in the league). In particular right tackle Adam Synder started every game in 2009 and gave up an egregious 9 sacks.
While Trent could play LT at a high level, on the right side can be elite, and that’s exactly what the Niners need: a bookend tackle to pair with LT Joe Staley. The 6-5, 315 pond man is an imposing force. He has quick feet, long arms, and great overall athletic talent. He is a smart player, who is extremely quick off the snap and shows great ability to mirror his man in pass protection. He is extremely versatile and could play multiple positions on the offensive line, which is always a plus. He is a force as a run blocker, he fires off the line and dominates when drive blocking. And finally his intangibles are excellent as well – he is an unselfish player who works hard on the field and in practice, he shows mental toughness and leadership skills through his play on the field. He returned to school despite being a probable second-round pick in order to return to the BCS championship and complete his education.
Commish's Comments: Ernesto: Williams is a right/weakside tackle with no real chance of holding down the other side, as was shown during his limited stint there as a senior at Oklahoma. That said, he has a solid track record as a RT and he might even be able to excel there as a pro. With two selections in the middle of the first round, the Niners are perhaps best positioned to make exceptional value picks. I understand going with need here, I'm just not sold on Trent.

With the #14 pick in the 2010 MHR Community Mock Draft..... WE HAVE A TRADE! In exchange for the #35 and #42 picks in the 2nd round the Seahawks trade down, and The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select...
WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State
|
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (via Seattle) Round 1, Pick #14 overall GM Skotty |
From GM Skotty: Bucs need a WR Bad. And Bryant can be the guy for years to come. I know he has red flags but the bucs have to take a chance with this guy at 14. He is the guy i traded back into the first round for. He is a big fast WR who will help freeman develop into a better QB. Has Great hands, great route runner and always has a great opportunity to get the YAC. He can be a dominant blacker if the effort is their. Under the right coaching this guy can be an elite WR in the league and Coach Morris is the guy that can get the most out of him. With suh and now Bryant i think i have two great playmakers on both sides of the ball who will great for years to come.
Commish's Comments: Ernesto: I did not see this pick coming, but I absolutely love it! I truly believe that Bryant's character concerns have been overstated. The only aspects of his prospect status that are absolutely undeniable are his impressive measurables and outstanding production. He's still 6'2", 225 lbs. and almost certainly runs the forty yard dash in under 4.6 secs. He easily outpaced Michael Crabtree in the same division of the same conference during the same season in 2008 (especially as a fraction of his offense) despite being a year behind in his development. Plus, he's also an elite kick returner. Josh Freeman is going to love his new toy... Sayre: This is a solid move by the Bucs. I wasn't quite sure what their intention was when they traded back into the first round, but this makes sense for them. Bryant is an elite wide receiver prospect who should have a significant impact on the NFL right out of the gates. Josh Freeman lost his top target in Antonio Bryant, and replacing Bryant should be a top priority for them on draft weekend.
