The Broncos remained busy on Tuesday, signing one of their own after bringing in two defensive linemen earlier in the day. The team came to term with K Matt Prater on a contract to keep him with the Broncos for 2010. Prater was a great story among what turned into a disappointing season for the Broncos.
Prater has yet to miss a kick in the 4th quarter in his 2 seasons as Broncos kicker, quite a feat itself. Prater came a long way in 2009 from a intrasquad scrimmage at Invesco Field in August when the kicker was resoundingly booed after missing a couple of field goals.
Prater's 2009, at a glance -
Was 2-of-2 on field goals at Cin. (9/13), including a 50-yarder in the third quarter-his fifth field goal of 50 or more yards in his career... Made all three field goal attempts at Oak (9/27) while sending all six of his kickoffs into the end zone. (3 TBs)... Made a game-winning 41-yard field goal in overtime vs. N.E. (10/11)... Connected on all four field goal attempts (26, 32, 47, 24) vs. NYG (11/26) and sent all seven kickoffs into the end zone, resulting in five touchbacks. His 14 points scored and five touchbacks were both career highs... Tied his career high with 14 points (3/3 FG, 5/5 PAT) at K.C. (12/6).
