Broncos Sign ILB Akin Ayodele

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos have reached an agreement with former Dolphins linebacker Akin Ayodele.  Last season for the Dolphins, Ayodele had 71 tackles and is entering his ninth season in the league.

Amid all the draft hubbub, Denver managed to add some cirtical depth to the ILB corp with the 6'2", 245lb versatile veteran Akin Ayodele.

Ayodele is an 9th year player, primarily a depth player, and is a physical, tough player who brings a limited, but essential skillset to Denver:  short zone coverage ability from the ILB position.  He isn't a flashy guy, but when the starter's need a breather, Denver can now bring in a guy who understands technique, and has developed staying power as a dependable backup in the NFL.  He is a smart player and should be able to adapt quickly in Denver, and hopefully increase the competition with Woodyard, Haggan and Larsen inside.  Reuniting with Goodman, Jones and Hill may be nice for him, as they were backing him up when he really made a name for himself as a coverage backer.

Increasing the defensive veteran presence continues as the 2010 offseason rolls on...
