The Denver Broncos on Wednesday were assigned offensive lineman Kirk Barton off waivers, it was announced. Barton was waived by the Detroit Lions on Tuesday.
Barton (6-foot-6, 300 pounds) is a second-year player who played in one game (0 starts) as a rookie for the Bears in 2008 after he was drafted by the club in the seventh round (247th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft from Ohio State University. He also spent time with Miami, San Francisco and Cincinnati.
A first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior in 2007 for Ohio State, Barton started all 26 games at right tackle for the Buckeyes during his final two collegiate seasons.
Barton, who attended Massillon Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio, was born on Nov. 4, 1984.
