Well, if we don't win against the Chiefs, we don't deserve to get into the playoffs....yet there is a scenario that exists which would do just that.
With the Chargers losing to the Lions Today, Here's how that happens:
Broncos lose to K.C. (already eliminated don't worry about them)
Chargers beat the Raiders
We would then be in a three-way tie with the Chargers and Raiders at 8-8. All three teams will have identical head to head records, division records AND conference records.
The tiebreakers go as follows(3-teams, revert to step #1 after a team is eliminated):
1) head to head
2) division W-L%
3) common games W-L%
4) conference W-L%
It comes down to common games which were: MIA, JETS, MIN, CHI, G.B., DET, BUF, N.E. and of course the division opponents---but since we are tied there with every team splitting these are the only games that matter.
Broncos
Beat: MIA, JETS, MINN, CHI
Lost: G.B., DET, BUF, N.E.
Record: 4-4
Raiders
Beat: JETS, MIN, CHI
Lost: MIA, G.B., DET, BUFF, N.E.
Record: 3-5
Chargers
Beat: MIA, MIN, BUF
Lost: JETS, CHI, G.B., DET, N.E.
Record: 3-5
As you can see both the Chargers and the Raiders in this case would lose to us in the common opponents tiebreaker.
Win and we're in
Lose and the Raiders lose and we're in.
Let's make it easy and win huh?
GO BRONCOS!!!
