A bout a week ago, Eddie Royal tweeted about heading in for surgery. Not uncommon for NFL players to have some work done during the off-season - a knee cleaned out, a should repaired - you get the idea. According to CBS4 Denver's Vic Lombardi, however, the surgery was much more than a tune-up for Royal:
Eddie Royal. Hip surgery. 6 months rehab. That's why they invtented the offseason.
That's right, Royal reportedly had hip surgery and will need 6 months to rehab. That puts a potential return right around the beginning of Training Camp. These things are never for certain, however, as we saw with Rod Smith. He was never able to recover from hip issues, though Smith reportedly had a degenerative condition that by the end of his career was bobe-on-bone and very painful.
Brandon Marshall has also had hip surgery and appears to have come back just fine.
Here's hoping Royal can come back healthy for 2011!
