From General Manager coloradosportsfan55: With the third overall pick in the 2011 MHR Community Mock Draft the Buffalo Bills select quarterback Cam Newton, Auburn. He is very athletic and is a big guy, some scout compare him to Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton… just kidding. He has excellent arm strength as well.
As the general manager of the Bills I think we found a gem. Thanks to a deep defensive class we can use this pick on Newton before the defense is improved later in the draft. We desperately need a franchise player, somebody to build a team around, and somebody for the fans to love. The only position that can truly capture all of those things is a quarterback. Newton’s mobility will be able to buy him time while we attempt to upgrade its poor offensive line and his rocket arm will be able to power balls through the vicious Buffalo winds. With Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm, we will not contend any time soon as he only had a 4-9 record as the starter. Newton can be a player that makes his entire team better with his play. We are looking forward to making our way to the top of the AFC East with the addition of a future star in Newton.
From the Commish
Sayre: I love this pick, and think Newton could even go first overall. The Bills are in need of a dynamic leader on their team, and I think Cam Newton has the personality and ability to be that guy. He is extremely raw, but he is going where I thought Tim Tebow should have gone last year, but didn't because of questions about his mechanics. You never hear about Newton's inability to take snaps from under center or read NFL defenses, by the way. Either way, I think he has a ton of potential, and would be a nice fit for the Bills.
