With the #18 Pick in the 2011 MHR Community Mock Draft, the San Diego Chargers Select DL J.J. Watt, Wisconsin

From General Manager Skotty:  I honestly didnt think JJ would fall this far, and was prepared to trade back, but he's available so i picked him right away. Chargers need DE help with Jacques Cesaire leaving and would help strengthen an already strong Defense. I was looking at LB and DE here, if Cam Jordan fell i was preparded to take him and possibly trade up a few spots if needed to take him.

I think JJ Watt is a great athlete. At 6'5 290 runs a 4.8 40 and put up 30+ reps at the combine and a 1.64 ten yard burst is great for a man his size. He would start from day one. He is your prototypical 3-4 DE. One of the best i think to come out in a long time. Much better well rounded prospect then Tyson Jackson who went in the top 5 a few years ago to the Chiefs. He's got a relentless pass rush ability on obvious passing downs. He has great strength to bull through double teams, but will need to bulk up some in do it constantly at the next level, he has room to fill out his frame yet, so i believe with some more time in the gym he will grow into a great player.

Looking back in too this draft in 5 years i think JJ will be looked as one of the best players to come out of this draft and will be a force to reckon with for AFC West offenses.

From the Commish

Sayre:   I like this pick for the Chargers. I know Watt is a guy they have been watching pretty closely this offseason, and he would be a perfect fit in their 3-4 defense. I think Watt could step in day one as a starter, and this would be a very good pick for the Chargers.
