Quick Take:
Has a full set of tools but lacks the consistency to use them properly. Good strength, and excellent lateral agility and speed, however except for a game against NC State rarely managed to put together a series of plays throughout a game with consistent effort, technique and fundamentals. Gets high, and often opens up his body to blockers, doesn't maintain good leverage, does not have the quick twitch speed at the snap seen in the top linemen. Can be controlled one on one by inferior offensive linemen. Showcased agility and lateral speed at the Shrine game, but still did not manage to keep from playing high, and didn't have much impact. Missed 2010 season due to suspension. Can be a much better player than he has shown on a regular basis, but surrounded by red flags.
Where He Goes in the Draft:
Bottom of 2nd round
What is Denver's Interest In Him?
Medium.
If he was drafted on grade alone, Denver could have him on their short board at #67, but his flashes indicate that there is more than meets the eye with Austin. Denver has definitely done their homework on Austin, with Visits and workouts completed after a long interview at his proday. It is doubtful that they will be interested in pursuing him, but he makes a nice emergency fall back option for the DL at #67, if nothing has worked out to that point yet.

[Note: All players in the table are ranked by overall grade within their round grouping, however, the round groupings are based on where this player will likely be drafted based on where teams are currently selecting in the draft. Therefore a player is ranked within a group by his level of ability, but players in nearby groupings may have higher or lower actual grades, despite being in a different group.
