The Denver Broncos had the 4th pick of the 2nd Round when the night began. It didn't take long for the Broncos to make their first trade of the 2011 NFL Draft. Denver traded the pick - the 36th overall - to the San Francisco 49ers. The trade allowed the Niners to select quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
For their efforts, the Broncos received three draft picks - San Francisco's 2nd Round pick(45), 4th Round Pick(108) and 5th Round pick(151). Prior to tonight, the Broncos did not have a pick in the 4th or 5th rounds. With the team looking to rebuild, the Broncos need picks - and talent - so making this deal seems on the surface to be a good one for Denver.
The Broncos now have the following picks:
2nd Round - #45 Overall
2nd Round - #46 Overall
3rd Round - #67 Overall
4th Round - #108 Overall
5th Round - #141 Overall
6th Round - #186 Overall
6th Round - #189 Overall
7th Round - #247 Overall
