Draft choices Julius Thomas, Mike Mohamed and Virgil Green have been signed. Still finalizing contracts of our other picks.
The Denver Broncos have signed Tight End's Julius Thomas, and Virgil Green, and linebacker Mike Mohamed to entry level deals. Contract details have not yet been released.
Mike Mohamed is an inside linebacker out California. The Broncos drafted him in the 6th round, 189th overall. He is 6'3 239 pounds. He was named to the All-Pac 10 Team in 2009 and in 2010 the All-Pac 10 academic team. Mike played in a variety of formations with the Bears, including 3-4 Inside and the MIKE and WILL in the 4-3. He is a sure tackler with a nose for the ball, possessing better "game speed" on the field than he 4.65 40-Time shows.
Julius Thomas is a tight end out of Portland State. Thomas follows the path of other star basketball players converted to play tight end. Thomas has the size, 6'5'' 246 lbs, and athleticism to be an effective pass catching tight end, but has only played one year of football. Thomas holds many Basketball records at Portland State, including the record for the highest field goal percentage in the Big Sky Conference.
Virgil Green is a tight end out of Nevada. Green was considered by many to be the best athlete at this year's combine. Measuring in at 6'3'', 249 lbs, his 42.5 inch vertical jump was tops among all players, and second all time for tight ends. Green was an explosive play maker for Colin Kaepernick, averaging almost 15 yards per catch. He still needs refinement in his route running and blocking skills, but his size and athleticism will make him an immediate contributor on special teams.
