Here is Tribune's story on #Bears getting Amobi Okoye http://t.co/uqZg8jb
Well, that didn't last long.
Amobi Okoye, former Elvis Dumervil teammate at the University of Louisville, has reportedly signed a one year deal with the Chicago Bears. Instead of a reunion in Denver, he will be playing with Julius Peppers and former Broncos quarterback, Jay Cutler.
Talk about a smack in the face to Broncos fans. The Broncos had reportedly called Okoye earlier in the day to discuss a deal with Okoye, but if this signing is true, it can be assumed that those talks didn't go swimmingly.
The defensive tackle pool is starting to thin, so if the Broncos are indeed shopping for some defensive tackles right now, they sure are being passive about it. Call it patience, smart, or thrifty shopping, but if you ask me the Broncos are getting steamrolled in free agency by teams that want to spend money.
There's an old saying that "there are always more fish in the sea", but in my opinion, Okoye was a pretty talented fish. I hope the Broncos keep fishing.
If there is a silver lining, it's that Mike Klis reports the Broncos are making progress on a deal with Marcus Thomas. More on that when information arises.
