The Denver Broncos report that they have claimed Returner Trindon Holliday off the waiver wire from the Houston Texans. The diminutive 5-5, 170 lb. speedster out of LSU was drafted by the Texans in the sixth round (197th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. When I say speedster, I’m talking about a World class Sprinter (10.07 in the 100m) along the likes of Tyson Gay and probably the fastest player in the NFL. Holliday has been timed as fast as 4.22 seconds in the 40 yard dash, but his official Combine number is 4.34.
In 2010, he was placed on the Injured Reserve List after suffering a fractured thumb. Trindon was a member of the Texans Practice Squad for about a month in 2011 before being put on the Active Roster.
During the preseason in 2012, Holliday returned a kickoff for a Touchdown in the first week against the Carolina Panthers. The next week vs. the San Francisco 49ers, Trindon returned a Punt for a Touchdown. In the final preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, Holliday got his third Touchdown in four games on a 76-yard punt return. He made the Texans Roster as the starting Kick and Punt Returner.
Trindon became available when the Texans needed to add Guard Cody White from the Practice Squad. Houston also added Linebacker Barrett Ruud to replace Brian Cushing, who went on the Injured Reserve List with a knee injury. Houston decided to go with Rookie Wide receiver Keshawn Martin as their returner.
Holliday has appeared in all 5 games this season. He has returned 16 punts for a 9.2 yards average with a long of 36 yards. He has also returned 10 kickoffs for an average of 19.4 yards.
The Broncos waived rookie safety Duke Ihenacho to make room for Holliday

Does that excite you?
Personally, I think this is a terrific pickup. I wanted Denver to draft this kid in 2010. I’d say that this shows that the Broncos brass are not sitting on their hands.
