A grudge match

Sam Greenwood

October 25, 1998 - This was the second straight win over the Jaguars. Denver was nursing a grudge for Jacksonville having knocked them out of the playoffs in 1996. In this game, after the first quarter ended in a 3-3 tie, the Broncos broke the game open when Elway and Ed McCaffrey connected for a 41-yard touchdown pass and Terrell Davis scored on a 4-yard run. The Broncos added 10 more points after a Jacksonville touchdown to take a 27-10 lead into the locker room at the half. The Jaguars made it interesting with a touchdown in the third quarter, but Denver answered with another Terrell Davis touchdown run to take a 34-17 lead in the fourth quarter. Jacksonville added another touchdown and the Broncos answered with a field goal to bring the final score to Denver 37, Jacksonville 24.
