Jay Glazer reports that Denver Broncos leading rusher Running Back Willis McGahee has been placed on the Reserve/Injured List with a designation to return this season.
Broncos are putting Willis McGahee on IR, ending his season. Tough, tough blow
— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) November 21, 2012
McGahee is looking to possibly return the week of thee AFC Championship Game. He suffered a torn MCL and a broken leg, but isn't expected to need surgery. Willis was having an excellent season for a 31-year old workhorse Back, averaging 95.2 total yards per game and 4.37 yards per carry. Willis amassed 731 yards on 167 carries with 4 Touchdowns rushing and another 221 yards on 26 catches this season.
McGahee is making $2.0 Million this year and scheduled to earn $2.5 Million in 2013, so he should return as the Broncos' starter in 2013. The Broncos are left with Ronnie Hillman, Lance Ball and Knowshon Moreno to tote the rock.
The Broncos have no plans to bring in another Tailback at this time.
Get Well soon Willis.
Go Broncos!
