While the Denver Broncos are visiting the Cincinnati Bengals this week, nearly everyone in Broncos Country except Troy, will be staying home for the game.
Chili, Pizza, Cream confections and Goetta Sausage are area foods that you may want to check out if you're in Cincinnati, but we did Chili last week and most people will have their Pizza delivered. So what to do for this week's theme.
I decided to keep it simple for Week 9, so you will be able to hit the grocery store real quick for the ingredients for both of these recipes. I hope you like them.
Grilled Sausage Kabobs with Spicy Sauce
This dish takes a little over a half hour to put together and makes 6 servings. Adjust as needed for the horde you invited to watch the game with.
Ingredients
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
2 Lbs. of good-quality kielbasa or other smoked sausage, cut into bite-size pieces
3/4 Cup ketchup
3/4 Cup spicy brown mustard
1 Tablespoon hot sauce
Directions
Soak 8 to 10 wooden skewers in water for about 20 minutes.
Preheat a grill to medium and brush with the oil. Thread the sausage onto the skewers, leaving space between each piece. Grill until slightly crisp, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
Mix the ketchup, mustard and hot sauce in a bowl. Serve with the sausage for dipping.
Cheesy Pretzel Dip
It doesn’t get any easier than this simple concoction to amuse your Game Day guests. I like to use the large Pretzel rods, but then again, I’m a double dipper.
Directions
Bring 1 cup milk, 2 Tablespoons flour and 1 chopped garlic clove to a simmer, whisking; stir in 1 Lb. of grated sharp cheddar cheese until smooth. Add some horseradish and grainy mustard; serve with pretzel rods for dipping.
So if you’re not in the mood for Pizza and you ate the whole batch of Chili during last week’s cold spell, tryout these simple suggestions to spice up your Game Day experience.
Good eats and...
