2012 MHR Community Mock Draft: San Francisco 49ers Select Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis

With the 30th pick in the 2012 MHR Community Mock Draft the San Francisco 49ers select Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis.

After a season of nearly making it to the Superbowl, the Niners have very few needs. Right guard is one of them, and Kevin Zeiter and Amini Silotulu would be in consideration at this pick. I'm not too big on Zeiter, although he might be the most NFL ready guard from the run blocking stand point. His ceiling on the pass blocking end seems limited. Silitolu has a lot of talent, but the value here, in my opinion, was not there. I also wavered between Shea Mclellin, Coby Fleener, Dante Hightower, Nick Perry and the other defensive ends of value in the 30's. The team has Probowlers (or near) at DE, Linebacker and Tight-end. Stephen Hill and Janoris Jenkins would also fit secondary positions of need, but their already off the board.

Anyways, with the way this mock went down, Poe is the way to go.(BPAAPON) We're all familiar with his superior combine effort, and mediocre game tape, I think the college thing has a lot to do with the bad team he was playing on. Nevertheless, he has tremendous potential, that can only be enhanced going to a team like San Francisco. He would immediately work into the DT rotation behind 8 year veteran Isaac Sopoaga, and be the starter within a couple years.
Commissioner by proxy Kaptain Kirk:
This is a terrific value pick for the Niners. I can't believe Poe dropped this far. With the Free Agent status of Aubrayo Franklin in limbo, San Francisco fortifies a position of need. Silotulu would be a decent pickup in this slot since Adam Snyder is now a Cardinal, but so would TE Coby Fleener. Imagine the havoc Coach Harbaugh could create with Fleener and Vernon Davis, not to mention Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss and Mario Manninghanm.
