When Peyton Manning signed with the Denver Broncos in March, the effect permeated across Broncos Country. No more so, than it did Demaryius Thomas. The 3rd year Wide Receiver found out right away how demanding his new Quarterback will be and came to the realization that he would have to step up his game.
Thomas was interviewed on The Zone in Atlanta and answered questions about Tebow, Manning and what he's done this offseason.
"I knew I had to step up my game and get in my [play] book more, run routes more, because I never really ran routes much."
When asked about running more routes with Peyton Manning as the Quarterback, he said:
"You're gonna have to run the whole route tree now. The comebacks, the slants, the ins. And I didn't have to do that much my first couple of years in the league."
Thomas will have to be more precise in his routes and disciplined as well. Not on;y that, but Manning requires his receivers to read the defenses to determine that correct route to run in any particular scenario. The choices he makes will establish how well he finishes this season and whether or not he can help the team get to the postseason.
Let's hope those choices coincide with Manning's and not Perrish Cox.
