The leagues 2012 Supplemental Draft is going to be held this Tuesday, and 6 players are eligible to be drafted. One prospect has reportedly drawn some interest from the Denver Broncos, that player being Alabama A&M Linebacker, Larry Lumpkin. Lumpkin was ruled ineligible for the 2012 College football season

The Broncos as well as the Dallas Cowboys scouts have been in contact with Alabama A&M's Offensive Coordinator, Cedric Pearl to talk about Lumpkin

"They’re interested in Larry," Pearl told Reggie Benson of The Huntsville Times. "They’ve seen him on film. They know what he can do. They’re trying to get information on his background."

Lumpkin played two seasons at Alabama A&M before transferring to Carson-Newman College after the 2010 season. Lumpkin is listed at 6'0, 234lbs, and led the Carson-Newman team with a team high 94 tackles, including 62 solos, and also had 10 tackles for loss. Lumpkin earned All-South Atlantic Conference first-team honors last season.

Lumpkin does have talent, but his off the field issues are the problem.

"Larry was a playmaker for us, but he had a lot of issues," A&M’s inside linebackers Coach Jay Martin said. "He was constantly late for meetings and he would miss practice at least one day a week. He was very undisciplined. He would have helped us, but he didn’t want to be here."

Personally, I do not know too much about Lumpkin, but if he has talent, I am open to adding him. Yes he does have off the field issues, so I would not use a high or even mid round pick on him. If we can get him with a 6th or ideally a 7th round pick on him, I would be all for it.

Now what does the Broncos interest in Lumpkin mean? It means the Broncos are still concerned about their Linebacker depth, but we already know this. DJ Williams who's 6 game suspension being upheld, could have triggered the interest too. The Broncos already have rookies Danny Trevathan, Elliot Coffey, Jerry Franklin and Steven Johnson battling for a roster spot, along with second year players Nate Irving and Mike Mohamed. So the Broncos have alot of inexperience at the Linebacker spot, and are looking to add as much talent and competition as possible.

The Supplemental Draft will be held Thursday, July 12th at 1pm ET, so we'll see if this interest leads into a selection
