Should Denver Bronco Fans Be Concerned About Peyton Manning's Performance?

Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen.

Manning coming to the Mile High city brings many expectations. With high expectations can often come high disappointment. Many have criticized Manning's performance's thus far with a few different worries. Arm strength and interceptions being among the most vocal.

Is Manning no longer the Peyton of old? Some have said Peyton always struggles in the preseason. Is this true?

I decided to try and discover exactly how Peyton Maning performed in the preseason in every game since 2003.

As you can see, Peyton has had some very solid pre-season performances. In fact, he has had a lot of success. You can take stats however you like them. Stats only ever tell half the story anyways. But Manning has had some pretty good pre-season games. His current pre-season reflects the one he had in his most recent season in 2010.

Clearly his earlier years were better for him in the preseason. An optomist would look at these and say he is just shaking off the rust and he will be fine but plenty of people have been worried. Looking at these numbers, are you worried about Peyton "Freaking" Manning?

COLBY'S OPINION

The way I see it is that Manning is getting a feeling for his new offense. Remember in Kyle Orton's second year he had an incredible season? Remember how that year we went on to have the worst year in Bronco history? It is hard to judge a QB but pre-season play. Clearly Manning has work to do but he will admit that himself. It is a whole new environment for Manning and he had not played since January of 2011 in a playoff loss to the Jets. I think Peyton will be fine. Will he be 4 time MVP Peyton? Probably not. But he will be a damn good quarterback and with the Broncos defense steadily improving, I wouldn't bet against the Broncos chances of being a contender. If Tim Tebow was as bad as everyone seemed to say he was, then the sky is the limit with PFM.
