A few things that i noticed...

  • Hanie Vs Osweiler: Not really a surprise that Hanie was awarded the number two backup spot, he out played the rookie Osweiler. Will be interesting to see if that changes at all throughout the season.
  • Knowshon number two?: Looks like Knowshon has impressed the coaches enough to be listed as the number two back ahead of Ball and the rookie Hillman. I wouldnt be too worried about Hillman being listed as the forth stringer. He did miss a decent portion of camp and two preseason games. I think we could see all 4 active on game day, and the hot hand is the #2 back.
  • Bubba Caldwell: When he was signed, we all expected him to be the slot WR. As of now, he's the 5th WR on the depth chart. Like the RB position, the hot hand will get reps in 3-4 WR sets. Also i don't think we'll see Stokley out there alot, so Willis and Caldwell will gets reps in the slot as well.
  • Keith Brooking: I was surprised that a guy who didn't practice much at all, and played in only one preseason game made the roster, but he did. He is listed ahead of rookie Danny Trevathan at the WLB spot. Trevathan was taking 1st team reps in Nickel packages, so we'll see if he still does or not.
  • Rahim Moore the starter?: I wasn't too surprised to see him ahead of Carter and Leonhard because of their injuries this preseason, but i believe he may be on a short lease. Carter and Leonhard have all shown that they can be at least decent starters in the league. I am rooting for Moore though, a ball hawk at the FS spot is something we havent had in years. The depth at the safety position is nice to see as well
