Just a few minutes ago, Lindsay Jones tweeted that Denver Broncos backup Quarterback Caleb Hanie has been released.

This news was precluded by the activation of Defensive Tackle Sealver Siliga from the Broncos Practice Squad

It appears that John Elway's statement about not having a "Plan B" upon Peyton Manning's arrival was true. The Broncos may look for another Quarterback, but for now, rookie Brock Osweiler will be Manning's understudy in more ways than one. There have been many calls for Hanie's departure by the Broncos fan base. It looks like many of us got our wish.

Hanie signed a 2-year deal with Denver on March 24, 2012, worth $2.25 Million. By releasing the 5th year Quarterback now, the Broncos save the entire amount off their books. There was no Signing Bonus.

Farewell Caleb.
