Update 2:03 p.m. MDT

The trade deadline has come and gone. Jared Allen is still a Viking. But cheer up, Broncos fan: Peyton Manning is still a Bronco.

Update 1:40 p.m. MDT

With 30 minutes to deadline, it appears the Broncos have dropped out. The Jared Allen race has had more lead changes than a Broncos game in October.

Update 12:50 p.m. MDT

The Broncos are the frontrunners and are pursuing the trade, according to NFL.com's Gil Brandt.

Personally I hope the Broncos don't offer more than a conditional 3rd/4th, but a good defensive lineman is always a welcome addition!

Update 12:15 p.m. MDT

The latest from Schefter --

Less than two hours before the trade deadline. Will the Broncos pull the trigger? Should they?

Original story follows below...

The Broncos have been rumored to be in the Jared Allen trade market since last week.

Now it appears there is a new contender for Allen's services, and like the Broncos, this other team is thought to be a title contender as well. Reports ESPN's Adam Schefter --

Are the Broncos the "second team"? We know John Elway will not hesitate to pull the trigger on a move he feels will improve the team. Some outlets have suggested Denver is the most logical fit for Allen's services. NFP points out that Allen, 31, is due to make $7.56 million for the remaining nine weeks of the 2013 season, and then become a free agent.

Reports indicate the Seahawks and Vikings are negotiating between second and third round draft picks.
