Peyton Manning 9-1 all time vs. the Kansas City Chiefs

Normally I include Tom Brady in these breakdowns as a comparison of two all time greats against each opponent the Broncos will face. This week I am just going to include Peyton Manning's stunning career success against the Kansas City Chiefs.

As you can see his overall success is special. Anytime you can beat a team 90% of the time, it is safe to say you have dominated. There are some real poor games in here however. In fact lets breakdown these numbers a bit further.

The Good

Well, since it's about the W's 9/10 is a great winning percentage. Peyton's offenses have managed to score in the 30's 40% of the time. He has averaged 280 yards passing per game to go along with an 8.0 yards per attempt. Both of those numbers are top notch. His offenses have also reached the 24 point mark six times. The average margin of victory is 10 points.

Home (5-0), Away (4-1), or Playoffs (2-0) doesn't matter.

The Bad

Peyton has thrown at least 1 interception in 7 of the 10 games. The good thing is he only has one multiple INT game. The Chiefs have also held a career 65% passer below 60% four times including once last year in Arrowhead. The Chiefs have also held Peyton and his offenses to 24 points or less 50% of the time. (The Chiefs as a team currently average 23.8 points per game.)

Remember, Alex Smith is only 2-23 in his career when the opposing team has scored 25 or more points. If the Chiefs want to have a good shot at taking home a victory, they need to hold the Broncos close to that number.

One thing that is lost between the constant talk about great offense vs. great defense has been the Denver Broncos defense. This game may hinge more on this unit than people think.
